STAR SUGAR STAR
The Mods Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
That she’d come back
Start a new life
Tell me it’s okay
Tell me that you’d stay
And Nothings gonna change
Is it love or is it pain
And why does it remain
That she’d come back
Start a new life
Tell me it’s okay
Tell me that you’d stay
And Nothings gonna change
Is it love or is it pain
And why does it remain
After all this time I’ve spent
In heaven I feel death
God will never rest
I say it in respect
For the graves in which he trots
All need to be tended
As the dead don’t have much time
For Their souls to be directed
And the earth in which they walked
Is heaven in reflection
So don’t ask for God to come down when you’re seeking your ascension
It’s better to be lost than to be found in deaths dimension
Did I mention I’m insane cause I was found playing in heaven
When I
Wish upon a star
That she’d come back
Start a new life
Tell me it’s okay
Tell me that you’d stay
And Nothings gonna change
Is it love or is it pain
And why does it remain
Wish upon a star
That she’d come back
Start a new life
Tell me it’s okay
Tell me that you’d stay
And Nothings gonna change
Is it love or is it pain
And why does it remain
And Why are you surprised
Finding me a mess
Playing with my life
You’re the one who left
And I don’t want to hate
Especially when
You brought me to a place where I found
Happiness back then
And I can’t
Wish upon a star
That she’d come back
Start a new life
Tell me it’s okay
Tell me that you’d stay
And Nothings gonna change
Is it love or is it pain
And why does it remain
Wish upon a star
That she’d come back
Start a new life
Tell me it’s okay
Tell me that you’d stay
And Nothings gonna change
Is it love or is it pain
And why does it remain
Broken Pieces
The Mods's song "Star Sugar Star" is a powerful lamentation for a lost love. The lyrics are full of confusion, pain, and desperation, as the singer wishes upon a star that their lover would come back and start a new life with them. They ask if it's love or pain that remains, and why it continues to torment them after all this time. The song's tone is melancholic and introspective, as the singer reflects on their own mental state and the way their lost love has affected them.
In the second half of the song, the lyrics take a turn towards a more existential reflection. The singer speaks of death and the afterlife, suggesting that the earth in which the dead walked is a reflection of heaven. They mention that God will never rest, and that the dead need their graves tended to. The singer suggests that it's better to be lost than to be found in death's dimension and that they were found playing in heaven, which might suggest a more introspective interpretation of the song.
Overall, "Star Sugar Star" is a poignant and deeply personal song that speaks to the pain of lost love and the confusion of existential questions.
