Lucky Number Nine
The Moldy Peaches Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Indie Boys are nurotic.
Makes my eyes bleed.
Tight black pants exotic.
Some loving is what i need.

Hey I'm starting to feel o.k.
Lucky number nine.
Huray.

I'm sleepier on the staircase.
Mirror in the back of my brain.
Makes things, her pants feel great.
I used to like to complaine.

But.
Hey. imstarting to feel o.k.
Lucky number nine.
Huray.

Bloody mary , mother of god.
grandpas on the hobby horse again.
dampen, broken pants chaifing.
I'm running out of ethnic friends.

But..
Hey. I'm starting to feel o.k.

Lucky number nine.
Huray.

Overall Meaning

These lyrics by The Moldy Peaches in their song Lucky Number Nine have an abstract nature, and can be difficult to interpret. However, they seem to describe the singer's search for meaning in their life, as they encounter a series of obstacles on their journey. The mention of "indie boys" with tight black pants suggests that the singer associates the indie music scene with a certain level of neuroticism, which causes them distress. However, they still crave intimacy and "some loving," even though they may not know where to find it.

The chorus refrain of "Hey I'm starting to feel okay, Lucky number nine, hurray" seems to suggest that the singer is finding some hope in their situation, as they continue their journey. However, they are also tired and "sleepier on the staircase," possibly feeling stuck in their current circumstances. The mention of a "mirror in the back of my brain" may refer to the singer's introspection, as they examine their own thoughts and feelings.

In the final verse, we see the singer encountering new challenges, such as "running out of ethnic friends" and grappling with the aging process, as symbolized by "grandpas on the hobby horse again." Through it all, the singer seems to be finding some sense of resilience and optimism, as they repeat the chorus refrain.

I hadn't heard this version before the gig last night, and didn't know a recording of it even existed. I thought they'd just rocked it up for the live show. If anything, the full band arrangement makes it even more adorably dorky than the scratchy lofi version on the album. Such fun, makes me grin from ear to ear

@dayvid_danger

@OmgYumMusic

I just love the Moldy Peaches! They don't try to be cool, and they have normal voices, not all edited [obviously some editing, but not so much you can't tell they are people]. They are so unique, coolio.

@MindTheDrift

I also love that they don't try to be weird, theyre just unapologetically themselves <3

@dbdb703

Thanks so much for uploading this, used to hear this song very often as a little boy before my ma passed away in 07. Haven't heard it since until recently when I tried memorizing the lyrics and came up with the sentence 'Hey, I'm starting to feel okay'
