1. The Movement is a rock/reggae/hip hop band originally formed in Columbia, South Carolina, USA in 2004. The original lineup consisted of Josh Swain, Jordan Miller and Jon Ruff (DJ Riggles).
In March 2004 they released their first studio album, On Your Feet, which was recorded and mixed in 24 studio hours at Pat Casey's Modern Music Studios in Columbia, South Carolina. On Your Feet has proved a mainstay of the reggae/rock genre and is listed at #9 on ThePier.org's 10 Essential Reggae Rock Albums.
The band continued to build their following with nonstop touring throughout the Southeastern United States. They enjoyed success in opening for national acts such as Steel Pulse, Blues Traveler, Slightly Stoopid, The Wailers, Ludacris, G. Love & Special Sauce, Common, Long Beach Shortbus, Wu-Tang Clan and 311. Their fanbase was growing steadily but the band wasn't breaking any new ground and the trio began losing interest. After DJ Riggles left the band, the remaining duo found themselves at a crossroads until meeting Philadelphonic Studios producer Chris DiBeneditto (Philadelphonic Records), who was looking for new talent to work with and, having seen the band several times, knew they had enormous potential. Swain and Miller dedicated themselves to their craft and made the move to Philadelphia to record their newest material at Philadelphonic. Chris put his experience with G. Love & Special Sauce, Slightly Stoopid and The Expendables to work on what was to become The Movement's second studio album, 2008's Set Sail. To solidify the band's lineup, DiBeneditto contacted local drummer Gary Jackson to sit-in with Swain and Miller. The three hit it off immediately and Jackson brought in his friend, guitarist Jay Schmidt, to play bass. The four of them proved to be a dynamic quartet and so the current lineup was settled. In late 2010 Swain left the band and Miller took over lead vocals. Miller enlisted the help of an old friend John Bowling (Johnny Keys) to join the band and play keyboard. The new lineup went into the studio in the fall of 2011 to record a new album One More Night which was released in March of 2012. On April 20, 2012 the band suddenly broke up and canceled the rest of the tour. Miller stated he needed a break while Schmidt stated that Miller left to pursue a solo career. In May 2012, it was announced that Swain would rejoin the band and assume lead vocals once more. Bowling had already left the band following the breakup the previous month. The new trio of Swain, Jackson, and Schmidt would continue on. They are slated to release a new album in the Summer of 2013 entitled, Side by Side.
After extensive touring across the United States, The Movement has found new life and is currently gaining huge momentum on the shoulders of their well-received sophomore album.
2. The Movement is a power-trio from Copenhagen/Denmark.They play mod-rock with elements of ska. Their sound is influenced by The Jam, The Who and The Clash.

The Movement Lyrics

Lyric is my weapon I'm the bomb educator
I divvy up ideas- I'm a spark delegator
Droppin jaws to the floor like a shark elevator
While ya swimmin in another's sea I'm currently me
Ya payin for yesterday- I say weren't we free
I got nothin but love for a sweet reverie
Did ya think I fell off- Nah
I been at the finish line waitin for y'all to catch up
I said I'm on top but still I don't stop
I said I already won but still I'm not done
Nibblin on aural nipples to titillate all the masses
Watchin women in painted jeans shake masterpiece asses
She needin to study and so she stays up and passes
If you see that I'm a spectacle then raise up ya glasses
Profligate professor- no waste for my successor
Success- tip of my tongue- a taste for every pleasure
No bath in my buillons but I baste in buried treasure
I lace my lap of leisure with haste in every measure
Pickin up pieces pardon the prime alliteration
cpparently people notice and perk with participation
But life is a puzzle- put it together with pride
cnd you'll probably find purpose if you put your ego aside
I move around a lot- I stop to spit a little
The middle is an enigma- I shop to get a riddle
Not privy to wiggle- baby I sing maybe to get all
Excited from aural pleasure like hearing a baby giggle
Did ya think I fell off- Nah
I been at the finish line waitin for y'all to catch up
I said I'm on top but still I don't stop
I said I already won but still I'm not done
I hate to see my people like a flower with the root gone
Drenched like they took a shower with their suit on
Benched- sit or you sleep- life ain't a futon
Time to strap ya boots on
Hike a million miles a week to get ya move on
Party like it won't ever peak to get ya groove on
Wig out with ya locks or be sleek and rock a buffon
Doesn't really matter- just be- and get ya truth on
Dready speak the truth mon
The lyrics to The Movement's song "On Top" convey a sense of confidence and self-assurance. The artist describes himself as a calm meditator, using lyrics as his weapon and educating others. He emphasizes his ability to spark ideas and leave people amazed, comparing himself to a shark in an elevator, dropping jaws to the floor. He asserts his individuality, choosing to be himself instead of conforming to societal expectations. While others are caught up in the past and paying for their mistakes, he focuses on love and positive experiences. He gathers like-minded individuals in meaningful conversations and interactions, creating a sense of unity.
The second verse dives into a more sensual and provocative tone, with references to titillation and admiration for women. However, it's not just about physical attraction; the artist appreciates the intellect and determination of a woman who studies hard. He sees himself as a spectacle, encouraging others to raise their glasses in celebration and recognition of his skills. He describes himself as a profligate professor who doesn't waste time and enjoys all the pleasures life has to offer. He believes that by putting effort into life, one can uncover purpose and find meaning beyond the ego. The artist concludes by expressing his love for music and the joy it brings, comparing it to the sound of a baby giggling.
Overall, "On Top" encourages individuality, self-expression, and embracing the present moment. It celebrates personal achievements and emphasizes the importance of living authentically while appreciating the pleasures of life.
