The Harvest
The One AM Radio Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Beneath an inch of snow, the ground was frozen hard.
You worked to dig a hole, lit only by the glow
from hope you buried deep,
to see
what it
would grow.
Beneath that vernal sun, you sit patiently.
Oh, here comes the spring.
What will it bring? What will it be?
The One AM Radio's song The Harvest is a song that captures the essence of hope and the desire to see life spring forth from something that initially appears barren. The lyrics of the song tell the story of someone who, eleven weeks ago, went into the yard and dug a hole under the frozen hard ground with the hope that something would grow. The hope of seeing life spring forth from the barren ground becomes the motive behind the person's action as he/she buries the seed in the ground. However, the person keeps the hope buried deep beneath the snow without telling anyone.
As the winter season passes, the person sits patiently beneath the vernal sun waiting for the arrival of spring. The arrival of spring brings the promise of life and renewal, and the person wonders what the season will bring. The unknown and the possibility of what might come bring about a sense of anticipation and anticipation. The person wonders what will grow from the seed he/she buried weeks ago and feels hopeful about the possibilities.
In many ways, the song captures the essence of the human experience of hope and the desire to see life spring forth from something that appears barren. It speaks to the idea that hope is what keeps people going even in the midst of uncertainty, and the arrival of spring, with its promise of new life, symbolizes the power of hope and the possibility of renewal.
