But since you brought it up there were a lot of different native American groups who were doing a lot of different things. Some were violent. Some were peaceful. Actually funnily enough, the Iroquois Confederacy and its constitution is what the founding fathers said inspired the forming of the colonies into The u.s. and it's constitution. So painting them all as just genociding each other is ignorant and untrue.

Also, while a lot of the diseases brought over by Europeans unintentionally killed native Americans, there were cases of the u.s. army intentionally handing out smallpox infested blankets to kill and or drive out the native Americans from their land so that the u.s. could take it. And there was a lot of other means of killing natives too. Fun fact: scalping is known as a native American thing but it was actually the French and the English who started it. There were bounties put out for native American scalps. Basically it was a way to prove that you killed a native without having to bring the whole body back. The natives were just copying Europeans.

Also Christopher Columbus and other Spanish conquistadors started the encomienda system when they first got here which enslaved a lot of the natives and led to a lot of torture and mutilation of them. Christopher Columbus was actually arrested by the Spanish monarch for his brutality.

So yeah, I'm not trying to essentialize all native Americans as good or peaceful people and I'm not trying to essentialize all the Europeans that came over here as violent or bad. But bringing up the fact that some native American tribes would war with each other as an excuse for the attrocoties committed by Europe and the u.s. is stupid.

BLM wants equality but the institutionalized, systemic, barriers prevent that. In order to break those barriers, we probably need preferential treatment for a while. Seems fair to me since white people have had preferential treatment for hundreds of years. With respect to your black owned business comment, we need that to support the very small group of black businesses in our neighbourhoods. By default, the other businesses are white owned. If your racist views mean you don’t want to support a black business, avoid those with that sign in the window. Trans people voice their experience and “tell you when you didn’t ask” because misgendering results in body dysmorphia; a medically recognized condition. You affect that person by using the wrong pronoun so they stand up for themselves and protect themselves by asking that you make a small change to your language. What is surprising to me is that everything these groups ask for requires a very small, if any, change in your behaviour or lifestyle. It is astounding to me that so many people are unwilling to make a small “sacrifice” for another person, regardless of how worthwhile you think it is.

@Iam Notafan, unfortunately, your premise is coming from an assumption that all races are economically equal, I'm not sure that that is true, there is a large percentage of people that have no historical economic base. What would be the point of a white person needing people to know their business is owned by White people, where a Black person is letting people know that if you support their business the money is going into the Black community, it's debatable as to whether this is necessary but that's one reason as to why it's done. I can't speak on the motives of black lives matter, they seem to be an extreme far-left group but the Slogan, "Black lives matter" can be seen as separate from the political group. We will never be rid of extremists but I don't feel it's constructive to solely use them as an example of the norm.

I've lived my whole life in a really small town in Mississippi and there really is a lot of great people here that don't think anything like this man. I grew up in what you would probably consider "upper class" for the state of Mississippi but I went to a public school that was 50/50 and grew up with friends that were different reaces. I'm 22 and most of my generation In Mississippi are extremely accepting of each other. I'm in college right know and I love seeing all the different races and religious on my campus. I'm a Christian through and through but when the hateful jeasus lovers come on campus and yell to use we just flip them off as we walk by. You can find amazing people in any part of the world so I would just say maybe come visit sometime and see it's not all that bad.

What I meant was that travelling and interacting with people outside one's home state/town broaden's one's perspective on life. Not all of us are fortunate to have an upbringing that fosters tolerance or higher education that broadens our minds. Travelling allows us to gain first hand experiences and form our opinions about people and ideas. I come from a third world country but have relatives in the US. I can totally understand that there are stereotypes associated with different states but I wasn't alluding to that in my comment.

You could get there through semantics, but I don't think there could ever be love where you think someone higher, or lower than you. Some might argue, 'but you love your pet cat and they are inferior', and in that they expose the internal flaw; you don't think that about a pet. I grew up in a small southern town (not in Mississippi.) I knew so many people like this growing up. Such small minded ignorant people who are confident in their narrow views. I escaped as soon as I could. I left home at 17. I’m 50 now and I’m so thankful I stayed away from my hometown. I have relatives who never got out and while they don’t have the obvious racism and ignorance as this guy, many have the underlying belief that their white skin is more beautiful than the non white skin. I always believe what Mark Twain said about travel being the antithesis of bigotry. So many people I grew up with haven’t even been out of the south. It’s a shame…

@@Lol-yj9ig blm is hate motivated idc how you sugarcoat it. More innocent lives, mainly black, have died in these "peaceful protests" by blm since all this shit started.
Let me give you an example from outside of the past few months.
A few years back on the East side of Houston a small black child, girl, was shot and killed at a red light. Her sister said she seen a white mans face mere seconds before the shots rang off. All hell broke loose. BLM, protesters of all kinds were at that Walmart (by the red light it happened at) in droves on a Saturday. BLM was strapped to the gore walking the streets of that neighborhood with ar-15s. Paul Wall and other local Houston rappers were there in support for the parents of this poor murdered girl. The whole nation was aware of this crime. Everyone was looking for a white man in a red truck. BUT it soon came out in good old fashion police investigation that the mother of the girl just did a dope deal a few minutes prior to the shooting and it was the two BLACK GUYS she just dealt with that did the shooting and ultimately killed that poor baby girl. What was once a nation wide story of white man kills black girl turned into NOTHING! All those protesters? They disappeared. All that nationwide support? Gone! BLM? Moved on! Black on black crime does not interest them. Even when it's a young 3-4 year old baby girl.
Hmmm?! So, do black lives really matter to BLM? Or just when it's the smallest percentage crime of white killing blacks?

I wish people could focus less on the differences and focus more on the similarities.
I think a lot of people would be surprised to know how similar we all our to each other. Genetically even.
How insular does the pride have to go? Your race? Your country? Your state? Your town? Your block?

Most of us aren’t even fully homosapien. Most have genetics from several other “species”. If we can have babies with a Neanderthal and those babies can go on to have babies themselves, how different can skin color really be?

This is a prime example of why we should NOT try to prevent people from saying what they want to say. Give people the opportunity to tell us who they are and what they believe. It’s when you try to bury it and prevent it from being shared that people become truly extremist and act on their beliefs.

We can disagree with this man, and I suspect most of us do. Let him carry on and when/if we interact with people like him, we live by example and show them there is another, better way.

I have known people like this. They can (and often DO) change their ways. It’s just a matter of giving them a better direction. When they want to change they often don’t because they don’t feel welcome anywhere. Love the sinner, hate the sin.

well, he was saying it like an analogy, there's many ways to look at it, and you chose yours. At least he's honest about it. The fact is, if you have traveled in the world, humans are still largely a racist, tribal species. dont mean to burst you bubble, but no, its not just white people who are racist.

Cocky Rooster I always find it stupid when people try to justify their shitty behavior by comparing themselves to how others act. His analogy is like someone trying to justify why they should be able to kill anyone they want because people of all races, gender, etc... murder people. Just because others do it, even if the majority does it, that doesn’t mean it is right or justified. Also, maybe he should take a deeper look into himself and how he acts to see why people don’t like him. I always see people of all races pulling the race card for how they are being treated when a lot of times it is not about race but because they are a shitty person.

Its like when you call a bad person a "hitler" ora nazi doesnt mean that they are anywhere close to the actual Hitler or a nazi.....
