The band slightly evolved away from their raw early sound with their third album, We Kill Computers, and with their 2011 release, Unpersons. Their next two offerings, 2014's Do Not Engage and 2016's Positive Thinking, found them expanding their sound even further with psychedelic rock and rockabilly influences. Both members cite literature and film as huge inspiration for much of their songwriting, especially science fiction and horror genres. These inpirations are also present in their highly stylized music videos, which are often violent and visually striking homages to beloved sci-fi films.

Lights
The Pack A.D. Lyrics

We're so scrupulous
That knife looks dangerous
What's all this fuss
Don't worry it's only us
So supercilious
Ack, it was only just
Smoking so cancerous
Try it, it's delicious
Woman in suit, so business
Try it on, oh gorgeous
The mirror is looking at me
Lights, lights, lights
Your disorder is on the cusp
Could be almost hideous
You're just ridiculous
I can't get close enough
That bird's androgynous
It's really unnerving me
Lights, lights, lights
The Pack A.D.'s song Lights seems to be a commentary on society's superficialities and how people tend to get lost in them. The lyrics take a sarcastic tone as the band sings, "Place your trust in us, we're so scrupulous," implying that societal norms often force people into trusting things blindly without questioning them. The following lines, "That knife looks dangerous, what's all this fuss," continue with the same sarcasm, highlighting how people often focus on trivial things and overlook the real dangers.
As the song progresses, the band sings about smoking, business attire, and body image. The line, "Your disorder is on the cusp, could be almost hideous, you're just ridiculous," seems to be addressing the unrealistic beauty standards set by society and how people often judge others based on their appearance.
The chorus, "Lights, lights, lights," seems to be a nod to the glitz and glamor of society, highlighting how people are frequently dazzled by superficial things.
Overall, The Pack A.D.'s song Lights seems to be urging people not to get lost in society's superficialities and to look beyond appearances.
