All Of You
The Pete King Chorale And Orchestra Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Just like a child without a home
The love you give me keeps me hangin' on
Oh honey, all I ever need is you
You're my first love, you're my last
You're my future, you're my past
And loving you is all I ask, honey
All I ever need is you
Sure as summer follows spring, all the things you do
Give me a reason to build my world around you
Some men follow rainbows, I am told
Some men search for silver some for gold
I have found my treasure in your soul, honey
All I ever need is you
Without love I'd never find the way
Through ups and downs of every single day
I won't sleep at night until you say, my honey
All I ever need is you
The lyrics of "All Of You" by The Pete King Chorale and Orchestra depict a deep and unwavering love between two individuals. The song begins with the singer expressing moments of loneliness and feeling lost, symbolized by a child without a home. However, it is the love given by their partner that keeps them going and provides a sense of belonging. The singer acknowledges that their partner is everything they could ever ask for, representing a first love, a last love, and everything in between.
The lyrics continue to describe the enduring nature of their relationship. Just as the seasons change, the love between the two remains constant. The singer finds purpose in the gestures and actions of their partner, giving them a reason to build their world around them. The love expressed is not fleeting like a rainbow or driven by material wealth like silver or gold. Instead, the singer finds their true treasure in the soul of their partner.

Many thanks for this post. As a kid in high school, I'd here this version on the radio but would associate it with Mitch Miller. Hence, I couldn't find a copy other than the Lucille Ball original. Great Post.

I remember hearing this in April 1961 on WPTR in Albany NY which was a top 40 station. I don't know if it got on the pop charts at the time.

Shortly after this came out, a long-gone discount store chain used this tune for its radio commercials, all I remember of it is: "Towers for discounts all through the year."

You're probably thinking of "I Ain't Down Yet", similar in texture and released about the same time.
