TOY DOLLS
The Pillows Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Do you want me for your life?
Do you want me for your life?
Do you want me? want me?
Do you want me for your life?
Do you want me for your life?
Do you want me for your life?
Do you want me? want me?
The song TOY DOLLS by The Pillows seems to be about a toy doll that resembles a weak and frail black cat. The vocalist wonders if the doll is wanted by someone for their life, repeatedly asking "Do you want me for your life?" Despite knowing that the doll will quickly get bored, the singer cannot contain their desire to possess it.
The next verse suggests that the doll occupies itself with spinning around listlessly to the tune of a music box. The singer offers to take care of the doll with affection, often calling it a "toy doll" in the lyrics. Towards the end of the song, the singer imagines dressing up the doll in a sequin dress and taking it out for a secret meeting.
Overall, the song seems to be about the desire to possess something fragile and delicate, despite knowing that it might not last long. The theme of childhood and innocence is also present in the lyrics, with the offer to take care of the doll and treat it with love and care.
