All The Wars
The Pineapple Thief Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I am still fighting
To find out a way
The promise, your promise
From wishing away

And all the wars
Come back to me
And all the wars
Come back to me

An no one is moving
Till the end of our days
No crying, no fall out
Just the darkest of days

And all the wars
Come back to me
And all the wars
Come back to me

And if I am to reach
Iif I am to reach
A final peace with you

And all the wars
Come back to me
And all the wars
Come back to me

And if that's all I have?
If that's all I have?

I'll reach a final peace with you
I'll reach a final peace with you

Overall Meaning

The song "All The Wars" by The Pineapple Thief begins with the singer's struggle to find a resolution to a conflict, which seems to have been promised as per the lyrics, "The promise, your promise from wishing away." The singer is still fighting and searching for a way to mend things. The chorus of the song, "All the wars come back to me," suggests that the conflicts of the past have come back to haunt the singer.

The second verse of the song suggests a sense of stagnation, as "no one is moving till the end of our days." There is no crying or fallout, just the darkest of days. Despite the bleakness of the present, the singer seems to hold out hope for a peaceful resolution to the conflict. In the bridge, the singer declares the importance of reaching a final peace with the other party, even if that's all he has.

The song "All The Wars" is a part of the album of the same name that was released by the English rock band The Pineapple Thief in 2012. The album ventured into heavier territory than the band's previous releases.

The album title, "All The Wars," refers to conflicts of all kinds, including personal battles and political wars.

The song was penned by the band's frontman, Bruce Soord.

"All The Wars" was released as a single from the album, along with a music video.

The song features a layered, atmospheric sound and is characterized by soaring melodies.

While The Pineapple Thief is primarily a rock band, "All The Wars" incorporates elements of post-rock and progressive rock.

The band's music is often compared to the likes of Radiohead, Porcupine Tree, and Pink Floyd.

The song has been performed live multiple times by the band, and a live version was released on their 2016 album "Where We Stood."

The Pineapple Thief has released numerous albums since its formation in 1999 and continues to tour and record music.

I see the video as an allegory for how his life going all the rails finally killed his relationship. The man with the crowbar might be a friend whom she left him for, and this killed the perception of the woman he loved. As he sits on the park bench he relives that moment when everything feel apart, and decides to put an end to his pain.
