As a child in the 60's & 70's I loved the rat pack. Dean was so funny and smooth, Sammy was just so damn talented, and Frank no words to describe him.. Who Johnny could sing like that. I saw Frank in concert when he was at the Aire Crown Theater. I was an Andy Frain usher and loved it.

I live in Warrnambool, Victoria, Australia and have loved the music of Sinatra, Martin & Sammy Davis Jnr from when I was a boy in the early 70s. Recently, I bought a dual CD featuring these brilliant singers singing at a live show in around 1962. Don't think this clip is from that show but the Birth of the Blues is on it. To see their routine is as magical as is listening to them sing. Carson holds his own, too.

I've noticed that back then and even years before they all came into existence, being overly talented, and what they would call a triple threat today, was common across the board in the entertainment business regardless of race, background or gender! Hence the reason that I have so many diverse all time favorite artists and entertainers!

Watch it again. That wasn't Carson to Sammy. It was Sammy to Dean. The same voice that said "What's it like to sit in the back of the bus!" also said a moment later "Let's give Dean a chance!" That's what makes it funny!

I am from the days of respect and honor and all the good things that are rare today! These cats where the best and embodied true coolness! Regardless of your race or background you wanted to be like them on so many levels!
