So glad this popped up in the Recommends today; has led to Rentals (Re)Appreciation Day. Man those first two albums were strong, and Seven More Minutes absurdly underrated.

This song is just slightly harder to search for than it should be. I guess Matt Sharp never thought about the downside of calling his band The Rentals and naming a song after a popular vacation spot.

I think I prefer the simpler, heavier, falsetto-focused version in California, but as for subject matter this is way cooler and more meaningful, I like the embrace of non-american culture, you sense that rush he must have felt on his European adventures. Singing about California is a cliche now and already was back in the 90's.
