White Flag
The Romanovs Lyrics

Once upon a time
But now I've evolved into a hunter
Why did you stay behind
You can't run from me
I know just what you smell like
Go and try
You'll raise your white flag if you know what's good for you
Maybe last lifetime you got away
But you'll raise your white flag if you know what's good for you
This time I got a bit more than my fangs
And you'll raise your white flag if life is your game
You're made of curves of glass
Blown out with air from the lungs of god
Filled with sand tan and fine
That flows too quickly to the bottom
You'll raise your white flag if you know what's good for you
Maybe last lifetime you got away
But you'll raise your white flag if you know what's good for you
This time I got a bit more than my fangs
And you'll raise your white flag if life is your game
You and I are hourglasses
Just you and me
Time erupts but has no pity
And like lava I wish our bodies could freeze
You'll raise your white flag if you know what's good for you
Maybe last lifetime you got away
But you'll raise your white flag if you know what's good for you
This time I got a bit more than my fangs
You'll raise your white flag if you know what's good for you
Maybe last lifetime you got away
But you'll raise your white flag if you know what's good for you
This time I got a bit more than my fangs
And you'll raise your white flag if life is your game
The Romanovs' song "White Flag" seems to be about a power struggle between two individuals. The first stanza highlights how the dynamic between them has shifted as the singer has evolved from a wolf into a hunter. The second stanza compares the person the singer is addressing to an hourglass, emphasizing how time is running out for them. The chorus repeatedly urges the person to surrender, raising their white flag and giving up the fight because the singer has become more formidable than they were before.
The third stanza reveals more about the relationship between the two individuals, emphasizing their physicality, and perhaps hinting at a romantic relationship with the imagery of curves and bodies freezing together. However, the final chorus reinforces the idea that the singer has the upper hand, having learned from past hunts and now having the advantage.
Overall, the lyrics seem to be about one person attempting to gain power over another, warning them to give up and surrender before it's too late. The use of animalistic metaphors and imagery adds an eerie but captivating tone to the lyrics, heightening the intensity of the narrative.

Blown out with air from the lungs of god
