I can't remember if she's real
Summer days spent walking around
And up all night yeah
Trying to remember if she's real
Well I don't think that I'll be back before nine
It might be nine, West Coast time
Telling me to head out their way
'Cause they know I'm in love with the sun
Since the first time I set a glance
On you yeah
I-I knew that she's real
So will that bird that flew you fly you back to yeah
So I'll-I'll know that she's real
Well I don't think that I'll be back before nine
It might be nine, West Coast time
Well I got some friends in LA
Telling me to head out their way
'Cause they know I'm in love with the sun
'Cause she's real
'Cause she's real
'Cause she's real
'Cause she's real
Well I got some friends in LA
Telling me to head out their way
'Cause they know I'm in love with the sun
Well I got some friends in LA
Telling me to head out their way
'Cause they know I'm in love with the sun
The Rosewood Thieves’ song “Los Angeles” is a wistful tune about longing and reminiscence for a love that may or may not be real. The lyrics suggest that the singer hasn’t seen the subject of his love interest in a long time and is unsure if she was ever even real, wondering if the memories he has of their time together were just a figment of his imagination. The song is nostalgic in tone, as the singer spends his summer days walking around and staying up all night trying to remember if she was real. Even with the uncertainty, the singer seems desperate to see her again, contemplating going to LA where his friends are telling him to go because they know he’s in love with the sun.
The lyrics are not explicit in what led to the separation between the singer and his love interest, thus allowing listeners to interpret their own backstory. The Rosewood Thieves’ “Los Angeles” speaks to the idea that love is a complex emotion that can leave you longing and reminiscing even long after it has gone.
