Throughout the journeys of touring with Deadsoul Tribe Devon met many musicians who really stood above the crowd. One day he began to wonder: “What would it be like to play in a band made of the very finest players I have met along the way?”
So like Dr. Frankenstein did, by sewing the greatest, strongest pieces of the greatest strongest men and then adding a sick and demented brain to create his monster, so it is the same with Devon’s creation of his monster THE SHADOW THEORY who are featuring some of the finest musicians that Devon could possibly gather:
Demi Scott - Keyboards
Arne Schuppner - Guitar (from the German prog-thrash metal band Complex 7)
Kristoffer Gildenlöw - Bass (Dial, formerly Pain Of Salvation)
Johanne James - Drums (Threshold, Kyrbgrinder)
Four years in the making, THE SHADOW THEORY will be releasing their first studio album on Devon’s long time home InsideOut Music. “Behind the Black Veil” is a sinister roller-coaster ride of sound and lyrical imagery combining elements of Thrash, Psychedelic and Symphonic Metal fused with Folk and Prog-Rock undertones. Devon’s first “concept album” ever, tells a horror story of a man who wakes from one nightmare into another, into another until he can no longer tell where the dream ends and reality begins… Or if he was ever dreaming at all.
THE SHADOW THEORY’s “Behind the Black Veil”, both frightening and compelling is sure to be a standout amongst the vast myriad of music releases this year. THE SHADOW THEORY will be a touring band and is already looking into possible touring in early 2011.

Trying to shake off what I may or may not have just seen
I must have been asleep (Where did I sleep last night?)
It must have been a dream
No way that could have been
No matter, never mind
As I'm walking out to a dimly lit street
There's a taxi standing, waiting with the back door open
I told him where I'm going
He said "I already know.
Get in and close the door
We'll take the scenic ride
Yeah, I know where I'm taking you to
The guests, they await you
They've waited so long for this day
The ride's not a long way"
Something inside me drawing me, guiding me
Something alive clawing me, biting me
Something that hides right here beside me
Just like the strange man sitting here driving me
Watch from the inside of black, empty spaces
Reach out from all the dark places
Dragging their figures on innocent faces
They reach for me
Calling me... Holding me... Taking me...
Killer
Taker
Time to face your maker
Killer inside of me
Taking a bite of me
Laying his sight on me
Dragging me
Pulling me down
"I'm not sure if you ever knew
The house that awaits you
Has suffered from many bad dreams
Some still remain
Some come in chains, some come without
Some of them only at night they come out
Where they stalk all the hallways, stairways, doorways
Keep them all closed but they'd only find more ways
To seek you, find you
Walk right behind you
Get under your skin and get into your mind
And you can't get them out
You scream and you shout till you cannot take
Cannot take
Cannot take anymore"
Killer
Taker
Time to face your maker
Killer inside of me
Taking a bite of me
Laying his sight on me
Dragging me
Pulling me down
"You walk from here just down the way
To the house that is dark gray
No need to pay for the ride
They've paid me for one way"
The Shadow Theory's "Ghostride" offers a suspenseful story set on a dimly lit street. The singer in the song steps down to the platform from the train and tries to shake off what they may or may not have just seen. The eerie surroundings make the singer feel like they're in a dream. However, as they walk towards the street, a waiting taxi with the doors open reveals that there's more to this journey than meets the eye. Inside the taxi, a strange man is driving the singer to a destination they know nothing about. The lyrics suggest that the man driving the car is not an ordinary human being; he has a hidden agenda and is leading the singer to something sinister. The singer feels a presence inside and outside the car, clawing and biting them, trying to drag the figure down, and pulling them towards the unknown destination.
As they arrive at their destination, it becomes apparent that the house in question has some wicked history. The owner waits for the singer along with many guests. The lyrics suggest that the owner and the guests have been waiting for this day for a long time. The house has suffered from many bad dreams, and some of them remain. There are many entities inside the house; some come in chains, some come without, and some of them only come out at night. The singer is warned to keep all the doors and windows closed, but they will use any means to seek and find the singer.
The song's lyrics are a mix of reality and dreams, which keeps the audience guessing about what is real and what is not. The story is suspenseful, driving listeners to the edge of their seats, wondering what will happen next. The lyrics are rich with symbolism, making it easy to interpret the lyrics in different ways, depending on the listener's perspective.
