Throughout the journeys of touring with Deadsoul Tribe Devon met many musicians who really stood above the crowd. One day he began to wonder: “What would it be like to play in a band made of the very finest players I have met along the way?”
So like Dr. Frankenstein did, by sewing the greatest, strongest pieces of the greatest strongest men and then adding a sick and demented brain to create his monster, so it is the same with Devon’s creation of his monster THE SHADOW THEORY who are featuring some of the finest musicians that Devon could possibly gather:

Four years in the making, THE SHADOW THEORY will be releasing their first studio album on Devon’s long time home InsideOut Music. “Behind the Black Veil” is a sinister roller-coaster ride of sound and lyrical imagery combining elements of Thrash, Psychedelic and Symphonic Metal fused with Folk and Prog-Rock undertones. Devon’s first “concept album” ever, tells a horror story of a man who wakes from one nightmare into another, into another until he can no longer tell where the dream ends and reality begins… Or if he was ever dreaming at all.
THE SHADOW THEORY’s “Behind the Black Veil”, both frightening and compelling is sure to be a standout amongst the vast myriad of music releases this year. THE SHADOW THEORY will be a touring band and is already looking into possible touring in early 2011.

The Shadow Theory's song "Snakeskin" is a haunting and mysterious tale of betrayal and temptation. The lyrics describe a woman, dressed in snake skin, who coils next to the singer and shows him something he should never see. Her cold breath is compared to that of a snake's as she whispers something he should never hear. She takes him to a mysterious house hidden behind a black veil, where someone has followed him and where secrets, lies, and fears dwell. The singer is warned that there is no death from this life and he is invited to stay to welcome the darkness.
The woman who wears the snake skin is a symbol of temptation, danger, and deceit. The snake has long been associated with these same qualities in various cultures and religions. The cold breath she exhales may signify death, as a snake's bite often causes its victim to die from suffocation. The black veil symbolizes the unknown and the hidden, the secrets and the fears that we keep from ourselves and others.
The lyrics suggest that the singer is being led into a dangerous and ominous place, where he may lose his life or his soul. The invitation to stay and enjoy the mystery and the darkness is tempting, but it comes with a price. The last line of the song, "Slow she slithered as she tunnelled down below/ Led me somewhere that I knew I should never go", implies that the singer has been ensnared by the woman and taken to a place of no return.
