"From the prairie city of Saskatoon, Canada come the Sheepdogs, 4 young gentlemen who revel in the joy of rock n roll so wholeheartedly, it's downright contagious. Sporting the long-haired looks of their musical forefathers, the lads make the most of their 2 guitars, bass and drums combo. Soulful vocalizations, everybody harmonizing, old-school guitar chops winding, riffing and chiming, and a grooving rhythm section that keeps it all going. Having already cemented their reputation as dynamic performers in their hometown, the Sheepdogs now turn their attention to spreading their affection for rock n roll cross-country. They have spent the last year covering the great white north, playing from Vancouver island to Montreal. They have played festivals, headlined a bill during 2007's Junofest, opened for the likes of Matt Mays and el Torpedo, and performed before thousands at 2006's Saskatoon Centennial Celebration. In January 2007 they released their debut LP Trying to Grow, a collection of guitar-driven originals that recall classic rockers like the Stones, CCR, and the Kinks. The album's title-track was featured in a province-wide campaign in their native Saskatchewan. Early 2008 has already seen the completion of their follow-up album, which mixes elements of southern rock and moody soul with gleeful straight-forward rockers. Once again, the boys are hitting the road, spreading their rock n roll revival to the rest of Canada."

I Ain't Cool
The Sheepdogs Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I just faked it till it felt good enough
I ain't cool, through and through
I just faked it till I made it come true
What can I do?
Don't you know I'm waiting for a woman like you?
It's never enough
Don't you know there's dark outside the walls of your love
I ain't cool, don't ever tell
It's a disguise for people that don't know me well
I ain't cool, that much is true
It's just a way to keep me fumbling through
Wrapped up in blue
Don't you know I'm waiting for a woman like you
Heaven above
It's never enough
Don't you know there's dark outside the walls of your love
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
The walls of your love
The walls of your love
I ain't cool, I never was
I just faked it till they said, "Good enough"
I ain't cool, what to do
I just faked it till I made myself cool
What can I do
Don't you know I'm waiting for a woman like you
It's never enough
Heaven above
Don't you know there's dark outside the walls of your love
Screaming to the heavens above
Don't you know it's never enough
'Cause there's dark outside the walls of your love
In "I Ain't Cool," The Sheepdogs explore the theme of feeling like an outsider who is trying their best to fit in. Through the chorus, the singer expresses that he has never been cool, but he has always faked it until he made it. This raises the question of whether coolness is something inherent or something that can be achieved through performance. The lyrics suggest that the latter is true for the character recounting this story. He is waiting for a woman to complete him, but this, too, feels unfulfilling. The song juxtaposes "heaven above" with "dark outside the walls of your love" to create contrast and evoke a sense of longing.
The first verse of the song begins with the statement "I ain't cool, I never was." While this may seem like a simple admission, it speaks to something deeply human: the desire to fit in and be liked. The character is not only confessing that he is not cool but is also acknowledging that he has never been. The statement "I just faked it till it felt good enough" shows that the character has been playing a role to feel a sense of belonging. The chorus of the song addresses this longing, with the character crying out for a woman that he feels will complete him. However, it's never enough. The song concludes with the plea to find love, screaming to the heavens above.
