The story actually begins deep in the heart of the Mississippi Delta, where band member Nick Krill was rummaging through the personal effects of his late grandfather, the guitar player Roy Spinto. For years, Roy had penned lyrics on the inside of Cracker Jack boxes, and in one simple juxtaposition of time and fate, Nick found the lyrics that would inspire the creation of the Spinto Band. And they hit the ground running. The energy was undeniable, and it wasn't long before Jon Eaton, Thomas Hughes, Nick Krill, Joe Hobson, Sam Hughes, Jeff Hobson and Albert Birney (who has since left the band to pursue the visual arts) found themselves with a massive musical proliferation at hand.
Eight years and seven self-released albums later, the Spinto Band is in the prime vein of musical prowess. Utilizing an indie-pop sensibility that brings to mind the Flaming Lips and Pavement, their songs can send you careening into the heights of lysergic bliss or provide the catchiest vibes to shake your tail feather to. Either way, this six-piece outfit has the goods to deliver us all from the doldrums of banality.
Currently teamed up with Nashville producing duo, Robin Eaton and Lij (of Alex the Great recording studios), and preparing a May release through Bar-None Records, the band's sound exudes a finesse that belies their youth (their ages range from 20-25). With rich, textured guitars, and multiple-part vocal harmonies, the Spinto Band's repertoire is a maelstrom of indie perfection. It's quirky, energetic, radiant, and aptly engaging.
The Spinto Band has performed with such acts as the Trachtenberg Family Slideshow Players, and Of Montreal. It's an inevitable transgression beyond the words on this page; the Spinto Band excels. Thank you, Roy.

It's just the (hole?) we're lost in again
That's what I wanted
Since you've gone I can't feel the day
On December it will wash away
Cause you got no place to be
The rest doesn't matter to me
Are you desperate?
Incomplete?
You live your life like you don't really mean it
It's just the (hole?)
It's just the (hole?) we're lost in again
That's what I wanted
Cause you need it right from the start
You (got?) me things that I could tear apart
You can say you've been feeling fine
This world will eat you alive
It seems that you're wrong
Or am I just indifferent
It always seems its impossible to get along
It's just the (hole?)
It's just the (hole?) we're lost in again
That's what I wanted
It's just the (hole?)
It's just the (hole?) we're lost in again
That's what I wanted
(You had no?) choice
You used to laugh some days
I'm not foolish
No matter what you say
It's not hard to remember
You need to realize
You watch your life
Pass you by
Are you desperate?
Incomplete?
You live your life like you don't really mean it
It's just the (hole?)
It's just the (hole?) we're lost in again
That's what I wanted
It's just the (hole?)
It's just the (hole?) we're lost in again
That's what I wanted
It's just the (hole?)
It's just the (hole?) we're lost in again
That's what I wanted
It's just the (hole?)
It's just the (hole?) we're lost in again
That's what I wanted
The lyrics of The Spinto Band's song "Static" seem to be a commentary on the feeling of being stuck in life and the struggle to move forward. The repeated phrase "It's just the hole we're lost in again" implies a sense of emptiness or aimlessness. The singer seems to be addressing a former lover who has left them feeling lost and unable to enjoy life. The line "You live your life like you don't really mean it" could be interpreted as the singer's frustration with their ex-partner's lack of direction or purpose.
The chorus of the song repeats the phrase "That's what I wanted," which could be interpreted in different ways. Perhaps the singer is resigned to their current situation, feeling that this aimless existence is all they can hope for. Alternatively, they could be saying that this sense of emptiness is what they wanted to escape from and that it's disappointing to find themselves back in this place.
The bridge of the song offers a glimmer of hope, with the lyrics "You need to realize / You watch your life / Pass you by." It seems that the singer is urging their ex-partner to wake up to the fact that they're not truly living and that time is slipping away. Overall, "Static" is a poignant look at the feeling of being stuck in life and the struggle to find meaning and purpose.
