Satisfied
The Squeeze Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴

They had just made love
Silent on the bed
This was their celebration
She had her eyes closed
Nothing was said
They had fulfilled temptation
He looked through the curtains
He looked at the phone
He couldn't be certain if this was his home
Satisfied that this was it
A rhythmic breath and a gentle grip
Satisfied and they were sure
They couldn't fulfill each other more

They stroked each other
He played with her hair
Deep in a warm sedation
The legs of his jeans
Hung over the chair
Love was their meditation
She looked at his shoulders
She looked at his eyes
The look there told her he was satisfied

They laid there apart
In another world
Deep in a warm sedation
As love turned to sleep
Their bodies curled
Into sweet inspiration
They looked at each other

They looked at the night
Under the covers they were satisfied

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of "Satisfied" by The Squeeze capture a deep sense of intimacy and fulfillment between two people after making love. The scene is set in a bedroom where the couple lies silent on the bed, basking in the afterglow of their physical connection. It is described as a celebration, with the woman having her eyes closed and the man observing the moment with a mix of reflection and uncertainty. Despite the physical act being at the center of their experience, there is a feeling of emotional contentment that permeates the scene.

The imagery of the curtains and phone in the room suggests a sense of detachment or disconnection, as if the man is momentarily questioning his place in this shared space. However, this unease is quickly overshadowed by the overwhelming feeling of satisfaction that both partners experience. This satisfaction is not just physical, but also emotional, as they find solace and completeness in each other's presence. The reassurance is conveyed through the rhythmic breath and gentle grip that bind them together in a moment of perfect harmony.

As the intimate moment continues, the couple's physical and emotional connection deepens. They express their love through tender gestures, such as stroking each other and playing with hair, creating a warm and comforting atmosphere. The love between them is described as a form of meditation, a transcendent experience that goes beyond mere physical gratification. The partners gaze at each other with a mix of contentment and understanding, their silent communication speaking volumes about their shared satisfaction and mutual fulfillment.

The final verses of the song depict the couple lying together in a state of sublime peace, as love transitions seamlessly into sleep. Their bodies intertwined, they find solace and inspiration in each other's presence, creating a sense of completeness and contentment. As they gaze at each other under the covers, there is a profound sense of satisfaction that permeates the scene, affirming their deep connection and the fulfillment they find in each other. Overall, the lyrics of "Satisfied" paint a vivid picture of intimate love and emotional fulfillment, capturing the essence of a deeply satisfying and harmonious relationship.

A very underrated trippy tune!

Very Beatleesque. Great number from a great album(atmospheric/emotive). Play and Some Fantastic Place are my favourite albums from their latter day career. Suprised the song didn't chart, it has fine production. Check out Jim Drury's Song by Song Book from 2004, if you haven't already, it's a good read.
