1) a three-member folk-rock band from the UK.
Emily, Jessica, and Camilla Staveley-Taylor have been making music together since they were children, growing up in Watford, UK, England. Brought up in a house that echoed to the sounds of Simon & Garfunkel, Crosby, Stills & Nash and The Beatles, singing in perfect 3-part harmony came naturally to these three sisters.Having started gigging in local pubs and cafes, The Staves are now captivating audiences on much bigger stages - earning rapturous encores with their exquisite songs of love & longing. Guaranteed to give you goosebumps, their extraordinary intertwining voices melt the most cynical of hearts. The Staves' Mexico EP will be released later this year via Atlantic Records.

2) a baroque pop band from NYC.
"Simple, yet intellectually challenging. Gloomy, yet beautiful. Artistically sophisticated, yet starkly presented...." (Indie-music.com)
"There are very few artists that consistently give me goosebumps. New York's Soren Anders [of The Staves] positively fits within this elite category. Over the last year, his stunning vocals and heartbreakingly beautiful melodies have won me over in a major way...." (The Music Slut Blog)

Satisfied
The Staves Lyrics

Guilty lying on your back
Wasted talk on the telephone
Why'd you do it like that
You've put it on the shelf and you won't ask why
How do you know, how do you know that it's right?
When you think about it, did you really try?
'Til you're satisfied?
'Til you're satisfied?
(Don't give up this time)
And you don't know why
(Why would you do it like that?)
Ooh, you're never satisfied
Playing cool, hotel fool
Maybe all you needed was a friend
Still confused, nothing new
Why you doing it again?
It was never enough 'til you know it's dead
Keep wasting all your time tryna meet it there
Did you need it that night? Did you really care?
You just leave it on the corner
'Til you're satisfied?
'Til you're satisfied?
(Don't give up this time)
And you don't know why
(Why would you do it like that?)
Ooh, you're never satisfied
Don't give up
Don't give up this time
Will you just leave it on the corner
'Til you're satisfied
'Til you're satisfied
(Don't give up this time)
And you don't know why
Ooh, you're never satisfied
Don't give up
Don't give up
Don't give up this time
Satisfied
Don't give up
Don't give up
Don't give up this time
Oh, you're never satisfied
The lyrics of "Satisfied" by The Staves capture a sense of frustration and restlessness, as the singer reflects on wasted time and actions that have left them feeling unsatisfied and unfulfilled. The song opens with a series of questions and statements about wasted time, lying, and meaningless conversations, setting a tone of disillusionment and confusion.
The chorus poses the central question of the song: what does it take to feel satisfied? The singer laments that things are put aside without understanding why, and wonders if true effort has been made towards achieving satisfaction. The repetition of the question "Til you're satisfied?" underscores the search for contentment and fulfillment that seems continually out of reach. The pleading tone in the lyrics, "Don't give up this time," suggests a sense of urgency and a desire to break free from a cycle of dissatisfaction.
The second verse explores themes of self-deception and seeking validation from external sources, such as in the lines "Playing cool, hotel fool / Maybe all you needed was a friend." The singer seems to be questioning their own motives and actions, wondering why they continue to repeat patterns that lead to dissatisfaction. The repetition of "You're never satisfied" drives home the idea that the singer is aware of their own inability to find true contentment.
As the song progresses, there is a sense of resignation in the lyrics, with the plea to not give up this time carrying a sense of weariness and defeat. The repetition of the line "Don't give up" suggests a struggle to break free from a cycle of dissatisfaction and uncertainty. The final plea of "Satisfied" captures a longing for resolution and contentment, but also acknowledges the difficulty of achieving it.
Overall, "Satisfied" conveys a deep sense of longing and introspection, exploring themes of self-doubt, unmet expectations, and the elusive search for true satisfaction. The haunting harmonies of The Staves add an emotional depth to the lyrics, creating a melancholic and introspective atmosphere that resonates with anyone who has grappled with feelings of unfulfillment and restlessness.

You sisters simply cannot write a song that doesn't reach right to the depths of my soul. I always feel like I somehow already know them upon listening. And yet I'm still left speechless every time. <3
