They began as The Buckeyes around 1955 with members Bruce Robinson and Ronnie Collins, and released two singles on the Cincinnati label Deluxe Records in 1957. In 1959 the group added Leroy Swearingen and released their first single as The Stereos, "A Love for Only You"; it flopped, and Swearingen left the group to be replaced by Nathaniel Hicks.[1] Swearingen, however, wrote the song "I Really Love You", which became their biggest hit, peaking at #15 on the U.S. Black Singles chart and #29 on the Billboard Hot 100.[2] They continued releasing singles up until 1968, none of which came close to reaching the success of "I Really Love You".
George Harrison covered "I Really Love You" for his 1982 album Gone Troppo.
* Bruce Robinson - lead vocals

I'm 76, I can't believe how much better this music sounds NOW, than it did then, I guess it's because back then most of the music was good, but today's music is so bad.!! There's no comparison.

Thanks to PJDooWop for giving us so many of these long lost classics from a bygone era. Memories of the Doo Wop Shop on CBS fm.

There are singers who can sing , then there are singers who sing from the β€ heart

I'm 59. Grew up with my Moms late 50s/early 60s records. Still play them. This one's another great one!

What beautiful music. What a glorious period. I'm 41 and my parents introduced me to this. My father was born in 1934 and I can imagine how he and my mother would have danced to music like this. I'm mentally and emotionally from that period but physically stuck here and now. I'm introducing this to my kids as well. I even dance with my 15 month old daughter to this track, who loves this genre and style, and claps her hands when I play and dance with her to this music.

That's a very common problem also for us oldsters! Keep listening to the 50s and they never die! Best always. PM
