15 Minutes
The T4 Project Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Flash bulb
Snapshot
Sure thing
Dead spot
A porno for the people's hungry eyes
News clip
Brain dead
Televised
Hatred
I'm staring through a void I don't recognize
Static begins to pulse a little harder
As helicopters fill your pretty head
We see things you'll never see through
Shiny black eyes that always know

Static!
Static!
Oh here we go into the unknown again
(Will you bring it back down)
Static!
Static!
(Bring it back down real slow)
Show me that you care
All of this means nothing
So let's find a way to
Break it all down
Break it all down
And we'll find another way

Crashed my car just to watch it burn
And I broke myself on the modern world
(I do believe)
I don't believe
And I'll resolve myself
And I'll be just fine (just fine)
Well, I lost my mind
When I learned to see
The whole world's open in front of me
(I prophesize the white-noise lies)
The delivery of the people's hearts
And minds
We're under
We're under a sky falling
Falling
Downed satellite
Unblinking eyes
Surround me
I walked all night to another part of town I'd never been before
And I saw
America

(Just fine)
Bleeding in the streets, forgiven, and obese (bleeding in the streets, bleeding in the streets)
Side effects rise, pharmaceutical lives (bleeding in the streets, bleeding in the streets)
Here we are (bleeding in the streets, bleeding in the streets)
America
(Here we are, America)

Here we are, America
Here we are, America
(Oh, oh-oh, oh)

Here we are, America
(Oh, oh-oh, oh-oh, oh)

Overall Meaning

The T4 Project's song "15 Minutes" is a commentary on the superficial and media-obsessed culture in America. The lyrics describe the way that news and entertainment blend together, resulting in a distorted and often meaningless representation of reality. The first verse speaks to the way that pornography and news clips are both consumed by the public as entertainment. The imagery of "shiny black eyes that always know" suggests a sort of sinister and all-knowing force behind the media that controls what people see and believe.

The second verse contains more vivid imagery, with helicopters hovering above and static filling the airwaves. The chorus, with its repetition of "static," emphasizes the idea that there is a lack of clarity and coherence in the way that information is presented to the public. The line "all of this means nothing" speaks to the lyrics' underlying frustration with the way that people consume media without really thinking critically about what they're seeing.

The bridge of the song introduces a new layer of meaning, with references to personal struggles and the singer's own search for meaning in a confusing world. The lines "crashed my car just to watch it burn" and "I broke myself on the modern world" suggest a desire to rebel against the status quo and find a more authentic way of living. The references to pharmaceuticals and obesity reinforce the idea that America is a society that is struggling to cope with its own excesses and contradictions.

Overall, "15 Minutes" is a powerful and thought-provoking song that challenges listeners to think more deeply about the messages that they're receiving from the media. It is a reminder that our culture's obsession with fame and entertainment can lead us astray if we're not careful.
