Their surreal style has been described as dark, darkly humorous, strangely humorous, Brechtian, and gypsy cabaret. They are also notorious for singing controversial songs involving bestiality, prostitution and blasphemy.
The Tiger Lillies were originally buskers, playing songs about the criminals, pimps and whores of Soho, London, England. Over time, the band became involved in several theatrical productions around the world, including the critically acclaimed Shockheaded Peter. Known for their intense, outlandish, and dark performances, they have garnered both controversy and critical acclaim.

Just Another Day
The Tiger Lillies Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
The snow blows in the wind
I think you need a drink of whiskey
You think you need a drink of gin
It's just another day of winter
The ice-cold turns you blue
Well you fell asleep in a doorway
Well it's just another day of tragic
Well you lie in the snow
And the ice, the ice has entered your veins
And now it's time to go
In the winter, in the snow
In the winter, in the snow
The Tiger Lillies are known for their dark and macabre lyrics, and "Just Another Day" is a perfect example of their style. The song describes the bleakness of winter and the toll it takes on those who are struggling to survive on the streets. The opening lines set the stage for the rest of the song, with the singer observing the snow blowing in the wind and suggesting a drink to warm up.
As the song continues, the focus shifts to a specific person who has fallen asleep in a doorway. The harshness of the winter has turned them blue, and it seems like they won't survive much longer. The lyrics convey a sense of resignation to this fate, with the singer acknowledging that "it's gonna be the end of you."
The final verse of the song is perhaps the most haunting, with the singer describing the ice entering the person's veins and signaling that it's time to go. The repetition of the phrase "in the winter, in the snow" reinforces the brutality of the environment and the inevitability of death for those who are unable to find shelter and warmth.
