The Storm
The Tiger Lillies Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Don't you know that we're all guilty
As the storm-tossed water breaks
Make you pay for each mistake
The storm will eat you alive
Pray to God you will survive
But you know that if you live
God will not you forgive
Now the harvest does you feed
Now that wind rips you apart
It will rip your evil heart
Need a saviour your luck's spent
But in fear alone repent
Once that storm it has passed
Then once more in evil bask
The lyrics of The Tiger Lillies' The Storm describes the wrath of nature, as represented by the storm, and how it symbolizes the punishment for the sins and wrongdoings one has committed. The singer sings about the impending storm that is about to engulf everyone, emphasizing that nobody is blameless and that they all deserve to be punished. He paints an image of the storm-tossed water as the embodiment of the consequences of one's mistakes.
The storm is showcased as a force of nature that will eat one alive, making them pay for each and every mistake they have made. The singer presents the storm as the instrument of the wrath of God, which will ultimately not forgive anyone. As they sow their wicked deeds, they will reap the reward of it, as the storm will punish them with incredible ferocity. The singer also mentions that a savior is needed in times like these, but it is too late for that as they must now face the punishment of their misdeeds.
In conclusion, The Tiger Lillies' The Storm is a song that emphasizes the inevitability of reaping what you sow. Nature, as represented by the storm, is presented as a force that will punish all, regardless of their sins, and they must face their punishment boldly without any pretense of redemption.
