The band formed in 2003 and soon after recorded what they call "the 2003 EP". The EP had six songs, including "Letters to Summer". "Letters to Summer" was also on their second EP recorded in 2004. This EP was re-released in 2005 after they were signed by Rushmore Records. They were the first band asked to be signed by Rushmore, but due to legal complications they were the fourth band signed after Self Against City, Day at the Fair, and Houston Calls.[1] Their first national tour was in the summer of 2005 with Rookie of the Year. They also played select dates of the 2005 Vans Warped Tour.
In September of 2006, The Track Record left Rushmore records and entered the studio to record their debut full length titled "The Coolest Kind of Crazy" which would be released by the band, independent of any record label. The title is also the last line of the record. Soon after completion of the album, they left for their second national tour with Southcott and Upper Class Trash. The album was available on their website for pre-sale on Thanksgiving weekend 2006 while the band was in Yorba Linda, California. The band has also played with other bands such as Hidden in Plain View and Hellogoodbye.
The Track Record announced on their Myspace page on May 2, 2007 that they "decided to stop playing music as The Track Record….we are breaking up or going on "indefinite hiatus," if you will."

I knew just what to say
Spring breezes caught your hair
So perfectly that day
Maybe I fucked this up
Cause these kinds of scars need time
This may just be for good
If I can't see you tonight
Content to cry yourself to sleep
You closed your eyes to reality and didn't want to listen
You were too wrapped up in everything your friends said
I'm sorry
Only for the fact that this experience hurt you
You said it best
Just another girl that made the list
I know that in the back of your mind you know I cared about this
A dollar says fear
Of being so lost again
Frequents your mind these days
You weren't going to let the world win
It's difficult to trust someone
When that someone let you down
So I don't expect much from
You just hear me out
I miss the way you are at 5 in the morning
Cause after 2 you're golden
And you've always been golden in my eyes
I wish I could erase
A night in May you can't remember
If only you would understand
Content to cry yourself to sleep
You closed your eyes to reality and didn't want to listen
You were too wrapped up in everything your friends said
I'm sorry
Only for the fact that this experience hurt you
You said it best
Just another girl that made the list
I know that in the back of your mind you know I cared about this
You were supposed to teach me
How to live the laid back surf life
I was supposed to teach you
Everything I've learned from fucking up in mine
You were supposed to show me
How to be a better person
I was supposed to show you
How to make a postcard sunset last forever
The Track Record's song "Golden" is a heartfelt plea from a regretful lover to his partner. The lyrics are imbued with a sense of wistfulness and yearning, as the singer reflects on the ups and downs of their relationship, and the pain of losing someone they care deeply for. The song opens with the memory of the couple's first meeting, when they seemed to be perfectly in tune, but now things have gone awry.
As the singer sings about the scars that have been left behind by their disagreements and misunderstandings, he also acknowledges the difficulty of moving on from the relationship. He understands that his partner may be hurt and unwilling to trust him again, but he still longs for the connection they once shared. The chorus highlights this desire, as the singer reflects on the moments when his partner was truly happy and carefree, and how he misses those times.
The song is a poignant reminder of the complexities inherent in romantic relationships, and how even the best intentions can sometimes lead to heartbreak. It speaks to the universal experience of loss and regret, as well as the enduring hope that we can learn from our mistakes and find new ways of connecting with others.
