Blue and Yellow
The Used Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

And it's all in how you mix the two
And it starts just where the light exists
It's a feeling that you cannot miss
And it burns a hole
Through everyone that feels it

Well, you're never gonna find it
If you're looking for it
Won't come your way, yeah
Well, you'll never find it
If you're looking for it (looking for it)

Should've done something but I've done it enough
By the way your hands were shaking
Rather waste some time with you

And you never would have thought in the end
How amazing it feels just to live again
It's a feeling that you cannot miss
And it burns a hole through everyone that feels it

Well, you're never gonna find it
If you're looking for it
Won't come your way, yeah
Well, you'll never find it
If you're looking for it (looking for it)

Should've done something but I've done it enough
By the way your hands were shaking
Rather waste some time with you

Should've said something but I've said it enough
By the way my words were fading
Rather waste some time with you

(Time with you)
(Waste some time with you)
(Waste some time with you)

Should've done something but I've done it enough
By the way your hands were shaking
Rather waste my time with you

Should've said something but I've said it enough
By the way my words were fading
Rather waste my time with you

Should've done something but I've done it enough
By the way my hands were shaking
Rather waste some time with you

Waste some time with you
Waste some time with you
(Waste some time with you)
Waste some time with you
(Waste some time with you)
Waste some time with you
(Waste some time with you)

Should've done something but I've done it enough
By the way your hands were shaking
Rather waste some time with you

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to The Used's song Blue and Yellow suggest that sometimes the most meaningful experiences are not sought out, but rather found unexpectedly. The opening lines reference the significance of balance and mixing opposing emotions or experiences, indicating that the beauty of life often lies in embracing both the light and dark. The chorus reinforces the idea that seeking a particular feeling or experience will not necessarily lead to finding it, instead advocating for the value of allowing experiences to happen naturally.

The verses provide additional context for this theme, with the singer acknowledging their past mistakes and missed opportunities. Despite this, they express the desire to spend time with someone they care about, suggesting that being present in the moment and sharing meaningful experiences with others can be a source of joy and fulfillment.

Overall, the song encourages listeners to appreciate the unexpected beauty in life and prioritize meaningful connections over the pursuit of a specific outcome.

This song came out in 2007

@TacoJim

This song makes me cry. I used to think it was just a chill song about friendship or whatever. It didn't impact me the way it does now. We all go through some really rough shit in life, and these days this song only makes me think of the friends I've lost to suicide. And all I can think about is how I didn't say enough to them while I could, and if I could have even one more day to spend time with them I'd do my damned best to make sure it was a good one. I know it wasn't my fault and I know there was nothing I could do for them, but that guilt doesn't go away. Your perception of music can drastically change as you get older, and I've learned to really appreciate gems like this.

You're a good guy Taco Jim.
