Ghost Town
The Vaccines Lyrics

Tryna find some sign of life
No one's about and it's kinda creepy
It's an understatement to say it's sleepy, oh
It's a ghost town where no one goes
It's a ghost town where no one goes
Come and spend a day with me
I am askin' real politely
I'm afraid to be alone, oh
It's a ghost town where no one goes
It's a ghost town where no one goes
Ah
Ah
Ah
Apocalyptic, distressing
It needs addressing and I'm guessing
Everybody likes to go away, to go away, to go away, away, away
I know, I know, I know
It's a ghost town where no one goes
It's a ghost town where no one goes
Ah
Ah
It's a ghost town
Ghost town
The Vaccines's song "Ghost Town" is a haunting and melancholic tune that speaks of loneliness and isolation. The singer portrays himself as someone who has been driving in his car hoping to find some signs of life, but unfortunately, all he comes across is a sleepy ghost town. He emphasizes the emptiness of the town by repeating the phrase, "It's a ghost town where no one goes" throughout the song. He even invites the listener to come and see how dull his town is with the lyrics, "Well you think your town is pretty boring, come and spend a day with me."
The song talks about the feeling of being afraid to be alone, which could signify the singer's own emotions. The sense of loneliness in the lyrics echoes the feelings of several people, particularly during the recent pandemic when isolation and social distancing have become the norm. The song paints a dark and eerie picture of a deserted town that was left behind and forgotten by the world. The lines "Apocalyptic, distressing, needs addressing and I'm guessing, everybody likes to go" evoke a sense of desperation and urgency to address the deserted town's issues.
