The Varukers's song Modem For Destruction is a commentary on the dangers of the internet and technology when it is used for hateful purposes. The lyrics describe someone goose stepping around their bedroom with jack boots and a painted-on mustache while logged onto the internet, specifically surfing for websites promoting hate and genocide. The song suggests that this person is using the internet as a tool for destruction, a virtual fascist state where they can download files and information that promotes violence and marginalization of certain groups of people.
The song's title "Modem For Destruction" highlights the idea that technology has the potential to be used for destructive purposes, and that by providing access to the internet and its various platforms, we are also providing access to promote harmful ideologies. The lyrics also suggest a sense of urgency, as the final solution is "now at hand."
Overall, the song is a warning about the ease of access to hateful content on the internet and the potential for these ideas to spread and cause harm. It highlights the need for responsible use of technology and underscores the consequences of unchecked hate speech and online radicalization.
