Contrary to popular belief, the band name in fact did not come from a character in Archie Comics. In an interview with MTV, the sisters explicitly stated this about the band name:
"The name is something we thought about for a long time, and we wanted it to be a girl's name, but we didn't want it to be 'the Jesses. We were very conscious of not wanting to make it a twin thing, because we think that's really tacky. So one day we saw the movie 'Heathers,' and there's a line where one girl asks, 'Are you a Heather?' and Winona Ryder's character answers, 'No, I'm a Veronica,' and so we went with that, because she was this kind of cool, unique chick with an attitude."
Born to Italian (Sicilian) parents on Christmas Day 1984, they grew up in Albany Creek, (northwest of Brisbane, Australia) where they attended Ferny Grove State High School and Wavell State High School. At an early age the girls expressed interest in performing; they participated with small local papers in shows on television, radio and horses.
The girls were picked up by Warner Bros. Records/Reprise Records' Sire Records label in 2004, for a reported sum of 2 million dollars. The girls write their own songs, and have also written songs for other artists like t.A.T.u.'s "All About Us" and Australian Idol winners Casey Donovan's "What's Going On" & Kate DeAraugo's "Faded".
The Veronicas dislike being called a female duo. "We like being called a band or group. We don't want to be a pop duo group with two girls singing about relationships, we have everything that a rock band would have, so we are a band," says Lisa. The rest of the band consists of:
Jungle George - Guitar
Sherman - Bass
Vik Foxx - Drums
The Veronicas debut album, entitled "The Secret Life of...", was released in Australia on October 17, 2005, entering the ARIA Album charts at the position of #7. Since then, it has peaked at #2 and gone 4x Platinum. Due to the success of the album, five singles have been released in Australia.
The band's lead single "Hook Me Up" from their second album was added to Australian radio on August 27, 2007. "Hook Me Up" was produced by Greg Wells (Timbaland, Mika, OneRepublic). The Veronicas' second album, also titled "Hook Me Up", was released on November 3, 2007, containing 12 tracks. The album in its entirety was leaked on the internet 8 days before its initial release. "Untouched" is the second single off the album, and was made available in stores and online on December 8, 2007.
The two took a brief break from making music together, though they reunited in 2010 to begin working on their third album. Due to major differences with their label, they hired a lawyer to get out of their contractual obligations and were successful, thus briefly becoming an independent act before being signed to Sony Music in 2014.
The first single from their third, self-titled album The Veronicas, "You Ruin Me", debuted atop the ARIA Singles Chart, becoming their first number-one hit in the country since "Hook Me Up" in 2007, and was certified double platinum.
Lisa has previously dated singer Ryan Cabrera and was formerly engaged to former Australian Idol contestant Dean Geyer. Since 2014 she is in a relationship with American actor Logan Huffman. They got engaged late 2016.
Jess was in a relationship with DJ, TV host and recording artist Ruby Rose in 2008. She dated Smashing Pumpkins singer and songwriter Billy Corgan from 2010 to 2012, and Badflower guitarist Josh Katz from 2014 to 2016. Since late 2016 she and Ruby Rose have confirmed they are once more in a relationship.

In Another Life
The Veronicas Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
When you were ten, you said you'd make me your wife
Eight years later you won me over
Just as I took the world on my shoulders
I got used to living without you
Endless phone calls and dreaming about you
Always said that you were my man to be
You know I love you, I really do
But I can't fight anymore for you
And I don't know, maybe we'll be together again
Sometime, in another life
In another life
I know I said that I would keep my word
I wished that I could save you from the hurt
But things will never go back to how we were
I'm sorry I can't be your world
You know I love you, I really do
But I can't fight anymore for you
And I don't know, maybe we'll be together again
Sometime, in another life
In another life
The way you're holding on to me
Makes me feel like I can't breathe
Just let me go, just let me go
It just won't feel right inside
God knows I've tried
You know I love you, I really do
But I can't fight anymore for you
And I don't know, maybe we'll be together again
Sometime, in another life
In another life
In another life, in another life
In another life
The lyrics of The Veronicas's song In Another Life explore the theme of letting go of a past love despite still having strong feelings for them. The song's narrator reveals that she has known her love interest since childhood, and despite losing touch over the years, they reconnect and eventually fall in love. However, as time passes, the singer realizes that the relationship is no longer healthy and that she can no longer fight for it. She hopes that they will be together again in another life but ultimately must say goodbye.
The lyrics suggest that the love between the two characters has a long history, and the singer deeply cares for her partner, but ultimately, it is not enough to sustain the relationship. The lines "I got used to living without you, Endless phone calls and dreaming about you" reveal the singer's longing for their partner but also suggest that they have been separated for a long time, perhaps due to geographic distance or other factors. The lines "Just as I took the world on my shoulders" could also suggest that the singer has been grappling with personal struggles and difficulties that made it difficult for her to stay in the relationship.
Overall, The Veronicas's song In Another Life is a poignant and emotional exploration of love and loss, reminding listeners that sometimes love is not enough, and letting go can be painful but necessary.
