Contrary to popular belief, the band name in fact did not come from a character in Archie Comics. In an interview with MTV, the sisters explicitly stated this about the band name:
"The name is something we thought about for a long time, and we wanted it to be a girl's name, but we didn't want it to be 'the Jesses. We were very conscious of not wanting to make it a twin thing, because we think that's really tacky. So one day we saw the movie 'Heathers,' and there's a line where one girl asks, 'Are you a Heather?' and Winona Ryder's character answers, 'No, I'm a Veronica,' and so we went with that, because she was this kind of cool, unique chick with an attitude."
Born to Italian (Sicilian) parents on Christmas Day 1984, they grew up in Albany Creek, (northwest of Brisbane, Australia) where they attended Ferny Grove State High School and Wavell State High School. At an early age the girls expressed interest in performing; they participated with small local papers in shows on television, radio and horses.
The girls were picked up by Warner Bros. Records/Reprise Records' Sire Records label in 2004, for a reported sum of 2 million dollars. The girls write their own songs, and have also written songs for other artists like t.A.T.u.'s "All About Us" and Australian Idol winners Casey Donovan's "What's Going On" & Kate DeAraugo's "Faded".
The Veronicas dislike being called a female duo. "We like being called a band or group. We don't want to be a pop duo group with two girls singing about relationships, we have everything that a rock band would have, so we are a band," says Lisa. The rest of the band consists of:
Jungle George - Guitar
Sherman - Bass
Vik Foxx - Drums
The Veronicas debut album, entitled "The Secret Life of...", was released in Australia on October 17, 2005, entering the ARIA Album charts at the position of #7. Since then, it has peaked at #2 and gone 4x Platinum. Due to the success of the album, five singles have been released in Australia.
The band's lead single "Hook Me Up" from their second album was added to Australian radio on August 27, 2007. "Hook Me Up" was produced by Greg Wells (Timbaland, Mika, OneRepublic). The Veronicas' second album, also titled "Hook Me Up", was released on November 3, 2007, containing 12 tracks. The album in its entirety was leaked on the internet 8 days before its initial release. "Untouched" is the second single off the album, and was made available in stores and online on December 8, 2007.
The two took a brief break from making music together, though they reunited in 2010 to begin working on their third album. Due to major differences with their label, they hired a lawyer to get out of their contractual obligations and were successful, thus briefly becoming an independent act before being signed to Sony Music in 2014.
The first single from their third, self-titled album The Veronicas, "You Ruin Me", debuted atop the ARIA Singles Chart, becoming their first number-one hit in the country since "Hook Me Up" in 2007, and was certified double platinum.
Lisa has previously dated singer Ryan Cabrera and was formerly engaged to former Australian Idol contestant Dean Geyer. Since 2014 she is in a relationship with American actor Logan Huffman. They got engaged late 2016.
Jess was in a relationship with DJ, TV host and recording artist Ruby Rose in 2008. She dated Smashing Pumpkins singer and songwriter Billy Corgan from 2010 to 2012, and Badflower guitarist Josh Katz from 2014 to 2016. Since late 2016 she and Ruby Rose have confirmed they are once more in a relationship.

When It All Falls Apart
The Veronicas Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
It was all going so well (before you came)
And you told me you needed space
With a kiss on the side my face (not again)
And not to mention (the tears, I shed)
But I should have kicked your (ass instead )
I need intervention
Everything is 'f'ed' up straight from the heart
Tell me what do you do, when it all falls apart
Gotta pick myself up where do I start
'Cause I can't turn to you when it all falls apart
No
Don't know where I parked my car
Don't know who my real friends are (anymore)
I put my faith in you
What a stupid thing to do (when it rains it pours)
And not to mention (I drank too much)
I'm feeling hung over (and out of touch)
I need intervention
Attention to stop temptation to scream baby
Everything is 'f'ed' up straight from the heart
Tell me what do you do, when it all falls apart
Gotta pick myself up where do I start
'Cause I can't turn to you when it all falls apart
No
Can it be easier?
Can I just change my life?
Cause it just seems to go bad everytime
Will I be mending?
Another one ending once again
Everything is 'f'ed' up straight from the heart
Tell me what do you do, when it all falls apart
Gotta pick myself up where do I start
'Cause I can't turn to you when it all falls apart
No
"When It All Falls Apart" by The Veronicas explores the aftermath of a breakup and how the singer is dealing with it. The lyrics express a range of emotions, from anger to sadness to confusion. The song begins with the singer having a terrible day, and it becomes clear that the cause of her troubles is a recent breakup. The line "before you came" suggests that things were going well in her life until her partner entered the picture.
The singer then reflects on the breakup itself, noting that her partner asked for space and kissed her on the cheek before leaving. The line "not again" implies that this is a pattern in their relationship. The singer is upset and admits to shedding tears, but also wishes she had reacted with more anger. She clearly needs attention and intervention to help her deal with her emotions.
The chorus of the song repeats the phrase "everything is 'f'ed' up straight from the heart," emphasizing the intensity of the emotional fallout from the breakup. The singer questions what to do in such a situation and finds herself unable to turn to her former partner for support. She feels lost, unsure of who her real friends are or even where she parked her car. She had put her faith in her partner and now regrets it.
It's clear that the singer is struggling to move on from this breakup and is searching for a way to make sense of it all. The song ends on a note of uncertainty, with the singer wondering if her life will ever get easier or if she will be perpetually plagued by bad luck and failed relationships.
