The Violent Youth Lyrics

But I'm innocent and clean
I would run but I'm slow
And I would never let you go
I am ready for your cure
I am ready for your help
I want you to give me
It's surrender in my life
I can't still believe
I need some help and no one knows
What will be if
we go our separate ways
The lyrics of "Pure" by The Violent Youth convey a sense of vulnerability and a plea for help. The opening line, "I have scars I can not show," suggests that the singer carries emotional wounds that are not visible to others. Despite this, they claim to be innocent and clean, perhaps indicating a desire to be seen for who they truly are, beyond their past experiences.
The following lines express a feeling of stagnation: "I would run but I'm slow." This could imply a struggle to escape their current state or circumstances. The repetition of "I would never let you go" emphasizes a fear of abandonment or a deep emotional attachment to someone who brings comfort and stability.
The second stanza reveals a readiness and willingness to be healed: "I am ready for your cure / I am ready for your help." The singer longs for a transformative experience, to be given a feeling they have never felt before, possibly alluding to the potential for love or emotional liberation.
The final lines introduce uncertainty about the future: "It's surrender in my life / I can't still believe / I need some help and no one knows / What will be if...". Here, the singer admits to feeling unsure of the consequences that may arise if they were to part ways with the person they are addressing. This uncertainty further highlights their vulnerability and reliance on this individual for guidance and support.
Overall, "Pure" depicts a yearning for emotional healing, fear of abandonment, and a desire to experience something new and transformative, all expressed through the poignant lyrics and vulnerable tone of the song.
