The W Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Well, packin' on back to Jackson
Eighteen-thirty-an'-six
Fifteen wagons an' forty-five orn'ry mules
Packin' on back to Jackson
Workin' the beaver trail
Ten more moons an' we gonna rendezvous

Jackson Hole, Wyomin'
Fifteen wagons an' forty-five orn'ry mules
Jackson Hole, Wyomin'
Ten more moons an' we gonna rendezvous

Yeah, packin' on back to Jackson
Nineteen-thirty-an'-six
Four flat tires an' a worn-out Chevy coupe
Packin' on back to Jackson
Workin' the Teton trail
Ten more moons an' we gonna rendezvous

Jackson Hole, Wyomin'
Four flat tires an' a worn-out Chevy coupe
Jackson Hole, Wyomin'
Ten more moons an' we gonna rendezvous

Oh, yeah.
Time for the instrumental portion of our program.
Banjo pickin', of course

Jackson Hole, Wyomin'
Fifteen wagons an' forty-five orn'ry mules
Jackson Hole, Wyomin'
Four flat tires an' a worn-out Chevy coupe

Packin' on back to Jackson
Nineteen-seventy-six
Goose down socks an' forty-dollar walkin' shoes
Packin' on back to Jackson
A-workin' the backpack trail
Ten more moons an' we gonna rendezvous

Jackson Hole, Wyomin'
Goose down socks an' forty-dollar walkin' shoes

Jackson Hole, Wyomin'
Ten more moons an' we gonna rendezvous

Overall Meaning

The W's song "Hole" is about a pack of travelers who are making their way back to Jackson Hole, Wyoming. The first verse describes a group who is packing wagons and a group of ornery mules for their trek back to Jackson Hole, Wyoming. They mention the year as 1836 and they are "workin' the beaver trail". The second verse describes a group of travelers in 1936, who are making their way back to Jackson Hole, Wyoming. They are driving a Chevy Coupe that has four flat tires and they are "workin' the Teton trail." The third verse fast forwards to 1976 and talks about a group of backpackers who are making their way back to Jackson Hole, Wyoming. They are wearing expensive hiking boots and goose down socks as they "work the backpack trail".

The song's chorus is repeated three times throughout the song, emphasizing the group's destination of Jackson Hole, Wyoming and the time remaining until their rendezvous. The instrumentation of the song features a banjo during the instrumental portion and a country twang throughout the rest of the song.

I just watched it today and I must say that so far one of the craziest movie I've seen, I thought I already knew "the whole truth" yet there 's more revelations will come.. Kudos to the actors, the directors and all of the people behind this film, great story and their acting are also great.
