I Idolize You
The Wailers Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

If you want some loving,
That I can give to you.
And if you want some hugging,
Said I can hug some, too.

All I want, baby, now
Is some thought of you
And just a little of your affection,
You know, will see me through.

'Cause you know that you are my man,

And I want you to forever be mine.
I idolize you (Yes, she idolize you)

THE OLD GODS

After listening to about 20 different vocal versions of this tune back to Tina Turner I have concluded that Gail Harris' version here with the Wailers is the best ever recorded....period.

roughtake

+Frank Powers i use to think gigi and charmaines was the best version with this a close second. Now i have to agree with you on this, Gail Harris at 15 can't be beat and the Wailers always rockin.

THE OLD GODS

roughtake There's a viddy of a 50+-yr-old Harris on YT performing this song as well. After performing this tune for years (I'd assume) her voice kinna gave-out, no doubt due to technique or the lack thereof but man, the sheer emotion alone from the original Wailers recording makes this one tops.

Cracktaculus

the Turner version is in a great key for C major cross-harp...

TxaChO

Una de las mejores versiones y canciones de la historia de la humanidad que vozarrón y encima en directo.

Bill Downing

She can still belt this song all these many years later~she stayed in Seattle and was a voice coach for lots of singers in the 60's-70's

So interesting to hear this. This is a remake of the Ike & Tina Turner version, the singer here even imitates Tina Turner´s voice down to every phrase and way of performing it, tone of voice, screams and singing melody. It´s an absolute un-original remake, but a very GOOD one. Not many can imitate or sing like Tina :-)
