Another Tear Falls
The Walker Brothers Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I see you passing by
And for a while
I don't begin to cry
But just when I think I'm all cried out
Another tear falls
And then I know
You are still here in my heart
You are still here in my broken heart
Every time I go with someone new
I tell myself I've gotten over you
But just when I think I'm all cried out
Another tear falls
Another tear falls
And then I know
You are still here in my heart
You are still
Here in my
Broken
Heart
The lyrics to "Another Tear Falls" by The Walker Brothers are a poignant contemplation of lost love that still lingers in the heart and mind of the singer. The song begins with the admission that the singer sees the object of his affection passing by, and though he manages to hold back tears for a while, he eventually breaks down and cries again, even though he thought he had cried all his tears out. The chorus repeats this idea of continuing to cry for this lost love despite trying to move on.
The second verse sees the singer trying to distract himself with new relationships, telling himself he has gotten over the previous lover, but to no avail. The chorus repeats the idea that the lost love remains in his heart, even in its broken state. The song can be interpreted as a reminder that sometimes we can't let go of love, no matter how hard we try, and the memories of those we loved continue to affect us long after they are no longer present in our lives.
Overall, "Another Tear Falls" is a heartfelt song with relatable lyrics that speak to the struggles of moving on from a love that remains in our hearts. The melody is wistful and melancholic, matching the somber tone of the lyrics and emphasizing the deep emotions being conveyed.

the over the top production really makes this song great. When the chorus drums bang in and the melody decends (drips) like searing tear drops after each “another tear falls” with single bell hits, here and there, like tears hitting the ground. It almost sounds like the tears are sucked back in, just before the second verse.
