Man I gotta love that B&W ending. They obviously know how to put the final touch. [SPOILER]

Regis:...After all that toil, I believe we deserve a bit of a rest.
Grealt: That we do.
Turn and smile at you

I almost cried at that scene.

"Did you know that Vesemir's great grandfather was 7 feet tall?"
"No, Geralt, I didn't know that."
"And did you know that there are one hundred and seventeen herbalists keeping shops in Vizima?"
"No, Geralt, I didn't know that either."
"Did you know then, that Kaer Morhen's south-side wall has 439 stones in it?"
."No... I didn't..."

I would like to take a moment to comment on Geralt’s extraordinary feats. Keep in mind that i am a new comer to the series having only played the third installment. Nevertheless, i have seen some glimpses of his achievements (and downfalls) in both the books and the first two games of the series.

Before delving into the details i want to inform you that English is not my main language. Therefore, please excuse any grammatical,
/vocabulary/spelling errors should there be any. Such mistakes are inevitable as at the time of writing this analysis.

Whew, with that out of the way. Let’s begin:

Geralt of Rivia has shown some incredible feats during the game. Even more so that what i had expected based on my, albeit little knowledge of the books.
He is said to be one of the greats swordsmen in the books. In the games, i truly believe that he became THE greatest. Having learned his last lessons from Vesemir, defeating all of the Wild Hunt’s main players and finally, defeating Olgierd von Everec. An immortal who has undoubtedly mastered his craft based on the countless duels he had been into. Not disregarding the fact that he also was using black magic. A very high and dangerous form of magic.

Regarding the Wild hunt, Caranthir is ment to be their strongest. Yet, Geralt managed to defeat him in a duel which is something, Eskel could not.
Eskel, based on my limited knowledge of the books is said to have displayed a greater level of swordsmanship than that of Geralt’s. You could argue that Eskel was fighting a completely healthy Caranthir whilst the latter was slightly wounded in his fight with Geralt. Even then, i still doubt that Eskel could have taken him on with all of the Elf’s teleports and use of arcane powers.

Geralt has shown to be the better fighter against enemies with teleportation abilities. Another proof of this is Geralt’s “snowball fight” with ciri. She teleprted all around the place. Notwithstanding, Geralt still managed to win (bonus the heartwarming hug between them <3)
Based on my observations, I believe that Geralt’s enhanced mutations (he is the only person afaik to have survived the second wave of mutations and chemical alterations to which his body submitted) has granted him the ability to be so fast as to he can react to teleporting enemies and counter accordingly.
Geralt also, based on your choice in the Hearts of Stone ending DLC, has managed to “outplay” THE INCARNATION OF EVIL at his own game. While the legends tell of another man who achieved a similar outcome, it is still nothing short of an outstanding performance and a perfect demonstration of Geralt’s intellect. Something many people, in-universe and out, tend to dismiss.

Finally, Geralt’s ultimate triumph over dettlaff sealed it for me. Geralt is easily in the top 5 most powerful characters in the lore in a 1v1 situation.

In fact, if i had to order them, it would be something like this:

1- Gaunter O’Dimm
2- Unseen elder
3-Vilgefortz
4- Ciri (purely because of the raw potential of her elder blood)
5- the white wolf himself

To conclude, it goes without saying that the games have made me completely love the character. Something i am sure wouldn’t have happened if i had only read the books. As i find him too weak and whiny there xD. That’s just my opinion though.

I am sorry for the long post but I believe that it was something that needed addressing.

Thank you for reading :)

The world is in peril, the Wild Hunt are pursuing Ciri, and Geralt races against the clock to find Ciri before the Wild Hunt does, and save her. But never mind all that let's have a game of Gwent.....

@Skull Skellige is my fave deck, though Northern Realms is a close second.

Skull

Alright. What is your go to deck and why isn't it Northern Realms?

@vahida königin Imagine at the climax instead of the normal events, geralt just challenges the wild to a game of gwent.
