Accept the new
Theophilus London Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

You got to the point where you forgotten
Everything that you once knew
The future happened so fast, your past
Bursts up into shades of blue
Don't you live in
Don't you live in fear my dear
Just please accept the new accept the new
Accept the new

Everything's new, Everything changes
Every heart is the same even when your famous
Ain't nothin special bout it
But the payments
But at least the lease gets payed
And I'm drunk up in the haze
And the morning sings to me
How could I forget the trouble
That it brings to me the time of the "D"
(day) , the time of the year (year)
How long do we have?, how long could we bare?

When you wake up, and you made a choice
To puff your cigarette and you hear my voice
You know it's to your heart
And it's heaven sent
Open the door, it's my girl Mary Jane (Hey)
They say the morning rays could
Cut ya eyes out
They say the morning rays could
Cut ya eyes out and this letter is to you in
A Pisces point of view
You could read it till your blue

"Do not fear the digital world
It will not kill us all"

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to "Accept the new" by Theophilus London delve into themes of change, acceptance, and moving forward with an open mind. The song begins with a reflection on how quickly the future can overtake the past, leading to feelings of being overwhelmed or lost in a sea of uncertainty. The imagery of past bursting into shades of blue suggests a sense of nostalgia or longing for what once was, contrasting with the need to embrace what is new and unfamiliar.

The chorus urges the listener to embrace the new, to let go of fear and resistance, and to welcome change with open arms. The repetition of "accept the new" highlights the importance of being adaptable and willing to let go of the familiar in order to grow and evolve. This can be seen as a call to let go of the past and embrace the unknown with courage and positivity.

As the song progresses, Theophilus London reflects on the transient nature of fame and material possessions, emphasizing that at the end of the day, what truly matters is staying true to oneself and finding contentment in simplicity. The mention of being drunk in the haze and the struggles that come with it serves as a reminder of the challenges that life can bring, but also hints at finding solace in moments of clarity and self-reflection.

The final verse addresses the idea of embracing change and technology, but also warns against becoming too reliant on digital distractions. The mention of "Mary Jane" symbolizes seeking refuge or comfort in familiar vices, while also hinting at the need to confront inner demons and face reality head-on. The line "Do not fear the digital world, It will not kill us all" can be interpreted as a reassurance that even in the face of constant change and advancements, there is still room for human connection and growth. Overall, the song encourages listeners to let go of fear, embrace the unknown, and navigate life's ups and downs with resilience and optimism.

Mordecai Marshall

such a good song

Sim ?

Played it to death when I found it in 2011 on my way to my 1st job at Wal-Mart deli after I graduated high school & still listening to it 8 years later. Just a few months ago, I was in a Georgia for the 1st time on my own working & I was so scared being by myself because i never traveled by myself before & on my way back home to New Orleans, I had this song on repeat. The hook and the 1st line of the song is what resonated with me so much because this year has been all about accepting new things and understanding that changes happen and you have to deal with it.

quillber

i dunno why he didnt just compile the best shit from his mixtapes for his album with a few new ones. this track for one deserves a proper release. even if its nice if its kept less known.
