London
They Might Be Giants Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I'm on the next plane to london
Leaving on runway number five
Next plane to london and I'm missing her
That baby of mine

Told her I was gonna be a star
But to do it I would have to go far away
But I'll come back someday
And take her away

I'm on the next plane to london
Leaving on runway number five
Next plane to london and I'm missing her
That baby of mine

Said that over here I wasn't in
Down in hollywood I couldn't find a friend
Who would help me get in
Or listen to me

I'm on the next plane to london
Leaving on runway number five
Next plane to london and I'm missing her
That baby of mine

Maybe over there I'll get a start
Only hope by leaving I don't break her heart
The more important part
Than any record on the chart

Next plane to london
Leaving on runway number five
Next plane to london and I'm missing her
That baby of mine

Next plane to london
Leaving on runway number five

Next plane to london and I'm missing her
Whoa-whoa

Thanks

Boss Nass

Damn, were they still were just a duo in 1990? I’m so used to them being a full band, it’s weird to see just the Johns performing. They absolutely destroyed though.

Freezepark

they started using a full band for the Apollo 18 tour in 1992

Louis Rios

I got to see them 3 or 4 times as just a duo in small clubs. For me, those shows were more fun than with the full band.

L0REN0R2Z0RR0

@Louis Rios I don't think they would be more fun at a 1,000+ capacity venue.

Andrew Grant

So cool. Never got to see them as a duo. Notices John look straight down the lens, then remembers how big video cameras were in 1990. Yeah, pretty hard to record it discretely.

mobius

God flans dual wielding those trumpets is so fucking powerful

bingo lump

PARDON???

mobius

@bingo lump  1:44 he did it pretty regularly when they did bottle as a duo
