Stables has been turning heads in all the right places since 2003: a first album Krülle Bol produced by John Parish , singles (Two Wooden Spoons) released by Rob da Bank’s label Sunday Best and a long-awaited second album on Dreamboat Records in 2010. Wriggle out the Restless was born out of a new, slower way of working. Gestated over a long period the album has drawn on This Is The Kit’s many musical friends (Rozi Plain [[label]Fence ], Jim Barr [of Portishead ] Francois [Fence] and The Liftmen [[label]Twisted Nerve]) to fill out their delicate music into a full, robust sound. “The aim was to have fun playing with people who’s work I really like” says Kate “the more you exchange and share with people the better things get and the more you learn.”
This Is The Kit perform regularly as a two-piece with Stables on vocals, guitar and banjo, and Vernon on violin, guitar, bass and percussion.

Say the magic words
Say the magic spell
Go on, say the magic words, the magic spells
Say the magic words, say the magic spell
Ti ti di ti
Ti ti ti di di ti
Ti ti ti ti di ti
Ti ti ti ti
Ti ti ti di ti ti
Ti di ti di ti ti ti ti
And they love themselves to sleep
What a lucky three, have been set free
Then they woke up in the dust in the heat
Landed??? the creeked in the heat
But it was remarkable
Rare and remarkable
Rare and remarkable
Rare and remarkable
Remarkable
Rare and remarkable
Rare and remarkable
Rare and remarkable
So go on
Say the magic words
Say the magic words
Say the magic spell
She said, if you ring you up you had us down
If you ring us up you had us down, magic spell
So time to pick yourself op
Of your rusty dusty
Pick your self up, up of your rusty
Pick yourself up, of your rusty dusty
Pick yourself up, up of your rusty
The lyrics to This Is the Kit's "Magic Spell" revolve around the idea of the power of words and the magic they hold. The repetition of the phrase "say the magic words" emphasizes the importance of words and their ability to cast spells that can change someone's luck or fate. The ti-ti-di-ti rhythm of the song adds to the magical feel of the lyrics.
The verse "And they love themselves to sleep, what a lucky three, have been set free" suggests that the magic spell has brought good luck to three people who have been freed from some kind of burden. However, the following lines "Then they woke up in the dust in the heat, landed??? the creeked in the heat" reveal that they have landed in a difficult situation despite the spell. The use of the words "dust" and "heat" create a feeling of discomfort and struggle, emphasizing that even magic spells have limits.
The song then shifts to a female voice encouraging someone to lift themselves up from their current difficult situation by saying the magic spell. The final repetition of "pick yourself up, up of your rusty dusty" reinforces the idea that words can shape our reality and that by saying the right words, we can bring about positive change in our lives.
