This World Fair formerly went by the name 'Kalgren'. This World Fair were discovered in 2004 by the girlfriend of their manager Grammy Award-winning record producer, Stephen Short. Past This World Fair and Kalgren members include George Hadfield (bass), DJ House (guitar) and Tyler Jorenby (drums). In 2007, This World Fair toured with acts such as Under the Influence of Giants, Guster, Phantom Planet, and Quietdrive. During early 2008, This World Fair transformed from being a band in to the stage-name of lead singer-songwriter Chris Kalgren, similar to the form of solo-acts such as Aqualung (Matt Hales) and A Fine Frenzy (Alison Sudol).
This World Fair recorded and cowrote the track "Don't Make Me Wait"[6] featured in the Dreamwork's film, Disturbia, released 13 April 2007. A music video for this song made by Disturbia's director, DJ Caruso, was produced by Lakeshore Records. The music video is included as an extra feature on the DVD, HDDVD, and Bluray releases of the film.
In January of 2008, This World Fair toured across the Midwest. Throughout the month of February of 2008, Chris Kalgren of This World Fair produced an upcoming album by Ari Herstand at Pachyderm Studio near Minneapolis, MN. Most recently, This World Fair headlined the Chipotle Rhythm Kitchen stage at Summerfest in Milwaukee, WI and embarked on a Midwest and West Coast tour through July 2008.
Waiting For You
This World Fair Lyrics

I've drowned all my senses
And left a gaping hole
And I've shaken that skeleton
A hundred times before
And though he's dead and gone
He's still coming back for more
Now I'm holding out for something better
I'm holding out for something good and true
I'm waiting for you
Waiting in vain for you
Waiting for you
You're not gonna change
If I ask you to
How do I show you I need you now
Modern philosophy show me how
Well I found on my knees
A spiritual psychology
That gives me strength to wait
Strong and faithfully
Chorus
Oh I've got so much to say
So many reasons kept at bay
But my ceilings gonna break away
(Here we go)
Won't you hold out for something better
Hold out for somethign good and true
Cause I'm
Waiting for you
Waiting for you, oh
Waiting for you
And you're not gonna change if I ask you to
Oh
The lyrics of "Waiting For You" by This World Fair are about the singer's feelings of desperation and confusion in a relationship. The first verse speaks about the singer's past experiences with love, which have left them feeling empty and disconnected. They feel like they have tried everything, but nothing has worked. The reference to a "gaping hole" implies that they feel incomplete without the person they are waiting for. However, despite the fact that they have tried to move on, they still feel haunted by their past and the memory of the relationship with the ominous reference to the skeleton.
In the chorus, the singer states that they are still holding out hope for a better relationship in the future, but at the same time they are resigned to the fact that the person they are waiting for will never change. They acknowledge that waiting for someone who is not going to change is an exercise in futility. The second verse speaks about the search for spiritual guidance and strength to get through the waiting period. It references modern philosophy and psychology, suggesting that the singer has tried to find answers to their problems in different areas, but has ultimately found solace in spiritual practices.
The bridge is the most optimistic part of the song, suggesting that the singer has hope that the situation will improve. They assert that they have "so much to say" and that they are ready for a positive change. However, this is undercut by the final repetition of the chorus, which implies that the singer is still waiting for something that will never come.
