For the progressive rock band formed in Woodstock, NY in 1994, see 3.
1) Three were a post-hardcore band signed to Dischord records featuring members of Gray Matter and ex-Minor Threat drummer Jeff Nelson. Formed in 1986, they broke up by 1988 just before releasing an album called Dark Days Coming. They are best known for their song "Swann Street" which featured on their sole album as well as a couple of Dischord compilations.
After recording the Egg Hunt songs in England, Ian MacKaye and Jeff Nelson considered forming a new band. They played with Geoff Turner and Steve Niles of Gray Matter, but the project never got off the ground and Ian decided to leave. The others carried on, and soon added yet another Gray Matter member, Mark Haggerty, and this line-up would become Three. Meanwhile, Steve had started his own comic book company, Arcane Comix, which he operated out of the apartment that he shared with Geoff on Swann Street in the Dupont Circle area of DC. It was this street that served as inspiration for the song of the same name, and the line "these berries smell like shit" referred to the small fruits that dropped to the sidewalks from the Ginkgo trees on the block. Three did a few short tours, and recorded at Geoff's home studio as well as Inner Ear. Things were looking up for them, but the band self-destructed before their album came out. Three and Happy Go Licky played their last shows together on New Year's Day, 1988.
Jeff Turner - vocals, guitar
Mark Haggerty - guitar
Steve Niles - bass, vocals
Jeff Nelson - drums, vocals
2) Three consists of a set of identical triplet sisters, Fanny, Frida and Sofia, from Sweden. They are best known for their 2010 single “Lucky Number” and have released a self-titled debut album.
3) Imagine the best of three musical worlds harmoniously melting together - in this case, warm acoustic guitar and rhythms layered over bracing electric guitar accents and compelling drums fronted by vocals that balance between passionate and edgy. The best word to describe this musical meld is perhaps a genre of its own: Acousti-rock.
Three has released 3 NEW! songs Home, Unfamilair and wysiwyg all recorded at Powerhouse Studios. Stuart Covington engineering and also performing drums in the songs.
Bill Stu- vocals, guitar
Rack - guitar, vocals
T - bass
Stewy - drums
4) Three was a two piece Canberra band active in the 1990's whom consisted of virtuoso bass player Ben Green who also lent his voice to their compositions and Adrian McKerall (Ajax) who played drums and the odd spot of guitar. Their early demo's featured some ripping heavy bass playing that became more mature, mellow and the two piece minimalist approach was a uniquely Canberra voice as they developed.
Both members were active in other acts in the Canberra region (Bungzilla, Tugboat, Slug, Prophets of Doom etc) and played to a wider audience touring Australia until the release of their full length "My Hat Is A Red Saucepan". Green built his own bass guitar that he played throughout his time in the band which eventually relocated to Melbourne in the mid 90s
Green also became proficient in turntables and began scratching with Melbourne dub outfit High Pass Filter, Three became less active and after Green's custom handmade bass was stolen, seemed to disband.

Three Lyrics
Yeah
Mm
What is your final object, your final goal?
What is the list to be completed by the time that you go?
The time you grow old, cause time can't be sold
Not for a dollar, a pent or a penny
Ya' collar up rockin' it plenty
Hollerin' it was seven twenties
Bragging about the new Bentley
While leaving all of the family
Back in the dust, to repair the rust
To get the new truck, see the bullets and duck
Where's the respect, where is the loyalty?
Respect for the Patek in effect you affect
The ones at the table who sharing the same plate
This ain't what Cube meant by a great day
A great day is ruined in the ruins of Babylon
Never to see the light again like Rod after marathons
Runnin' for the goal only to see that the soil you sowed
Never growed because the love you showed was dismissed
Growed up, glowed up, throned up so much
They forgot what you had told them, you ain't slick
How bad do you want to be rich?
To flood up and flaunt on the wrist
To have everybody know yo' name, like Sosa fame
But they ain't never needed you, nobody ever does
'Less you cocaín-a new version
Will always replace, there's always conversion
Like with the decimal place and a fraction
It ain't all that it seems
You may be hungry
But it's a game for the higher factions
Always mad when you cash in and cash out
So it's dangerous to reach in and get a bag out
I wish for that as well, but not for popping a tag out
But with everything comes a cost
Think you've won but you've lost
The line that you've crossed
Is merely a crack in the sidewalk
If cement could speak, then the lines talk
Uh
Yeah
Yo yo yo, I-
I ain't done, I ain't done
Let me finish
Ayo DJ put that beat back on for me
That's more like it, let's get it
Yes there's always a silver lining, but the clouds are much bigger
There's a cause to every effect
A cost to every Patek
Know what you doin
Know if you fluent, they finna use you
They finna use you, they finna give you the world then take it
Take ya' life then break it
All because you had hopped on the wrong train on the station
Just be cautious as the snake, but steer clear from snakin'
Yeah
Thank y'all, thank y'all so much, thank you
Thank you
I appreciate every single one of you
Thank you for coming out here tonight to see me
It means a lot, but um
But can we please quiet it down real quick, real quick
There's still one more part of the song
I want everybody to hear before they leave tonight
So, quiet it down
Just listen to this one last part
Thank you
So once again, what matters to you?
Is it wealth, fame, power?
Or is it something more than these?
We all must find what it is for ourselves that we care about
You can gain all the material things this world has to offer
But that only opens a hole in you
And there ain't much to fill it with, I can tell you that right now
Not that kind of crater
No, not that kind of hole
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Mm
