Turtle Dove
Tia Blake Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Fare thee well my dear,
I must be Gone and leave you for awhile,
If I roam away I'll come back again,
Though I roam ten thousand miles my love,
Though I roam ten thousand miles.

The sea will never run dry my dear,
Nor the rocks melt with the sun,
But I never will prove false to the Bonnie lass I love,
till all these things be done my dear,
Till all these things be done.

Oh yonder doth sit the little turtle dove,
He doth sit on yonder high tree,
And I'll make it a mount for the loss of his love,
As I will make for thee my dear,
As I will make for thee.

Fare thee well my dear I must be gone, and leave you for awhile,
If I roam away I'll come back again,

Though I roam ten thousand miles my dear,
Though I roam ten thousand miles.

Overall Meaning

In Tia Blake's song, "Turtle Dove", she sings about leaving someone she loves, promising to come back even if she has to travel ten thousand miles. The first stanza expresses the desire to leave for a while but also the promise of returning no matter the distance. The second stanza portrays the commitment and loyalty of the singer, saying that she will remain true to her love until the end of time or until the impossible happens, such as the sea running dry or rocks melting with the sun.

The third stanza references a turtle dove sitting on a tree, mourning the loss of its love. The singer promises to create a memorial for the turtle dove, just as she would for her own love. The song is a beautiful representation of dedication and devotion, despite distance and time.

Fare thee well my dear,
Goodbye my love,

I must be Gone and leave you for awhile,
I have to go away for some time,

If I roam away I'll come back again,
I'll come back to you even if I travel far away,

Though I roam ten thousand miles my love,
Even if I wander a great distance,

Though I roam ten thousand miles.
Even if I wander a great distance.

The sea will never run dry my dear,
The ocean will always exist,

Nor the rocks melt with the sun,
The earth will always stay the same,

But I never will prove false to the Bonnie lass I love,
But I will always be faithful to the girl I love,

till all these things be done my dear,
until the end of time,

Till all these things be done.
Until the end of time.

Oh yonder doth sit the little turtle dove,
Over there sits a small bird called a turtle dove,

He doth sit on yonder high tree,
It sits on a tree over there,

And I'll make it a mount for the loss of his love,
I'll make a memorial for the bird's lost love,

As I will make for thee my dear,
Just as I will make one for you, my love,

As I will make for thee.
Just as I will make one for you.

Fare thee well my dear I must be gone, and leave you for awhile,
Goodbye my love, I have to leave you for some time,

If I roam away I'll come back again,
I promise to come back to you even if I travel far away,

Though I roam ten thousand miles my dear,
Even if I wander a great distance my love,

Though I roam ten thousand miles.
Even if I wander a great distance.

Fare you well, my dear, I must be gone,
And leave you for a while;
If I roam away I'll come back again,
Though I roam ten thousand miles, my dear,
Though I roam ten thousand miles.

So fair thou art, my bonny lass,
So deep in love am I;
But I never will prove false to the bonny lass I love,
Till the stars fall from the sky, my dear,
Till the stars fall from the sky.

The sea will never run dry, my dear,
Nor the rocks melt with the sun,
But I never will prove false to the bonny lass I love,
Till all these things be done, my dear,
Till all these things be done.

O yonder doth sit that little turtle dove,
He doth sit on yonder high tree,
A-making a moan for the loss of his love,
As I will do for thee, my dear,
As I will do for thee.

Cher Benito Merlino tu as bien fait d'ajouter une quena a' cette chanson si bien chante'e par Tia Blake. C'est formidable.

@tontonbenito3247

Alla fine della canzone di Tia non avendo un flauto traverso abbiamo utilizzato una quena del sudAmerica che da al pezzo una bella atmosfera romantica. Ciao. Benito Merlino direttore artistico.
