Be My Everything
Tim Hughes Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

God in my living, there in my breathing
God in my waking, God in my sleeping
God in my resting, there in my working
God in my thinking, God in my speaking

Be my everything, be my everything
Be my everything, be my everything
God in my hoping, there in my dreaming
God in my watching, God in my waiting
God in my laughing, there in my weeping
God in my hurting, God in my healing

Be my everything, be my everything
Be my everything, be my everything

Christ in me, Christ in me
Christ in me, the hope of glory
You are everything

Christ in me, Christ in me
Christ in me, the hope of glory
Be my everything

Be my everything, be my everything
Be my everything, be my everything
Be my everything, be my everything
Be my everything, be my everything

God in my hoping, there in my dreaming
God in my watching, God in my waiting
God in my laughing, there in my weeping
God in my hurting, God in my healing

Be my everything, be my everything
Be my everything, be my everything

Be my everything, be my everything
Be my everything, be my everything
Be my everything, be my everything
Be my everything, be my everything

Christ in me, Christ in me
Christ in me, the hope of glory
You are everything

You are everything, You are everything
You are everything, You are everything

Jesus, everything, Jesus, everything
Jesus, everything, Jesus everything

Overall Meaning

In these lyrics, Tim Hughes expresses his desire for God to be a constant presence in every aspect of his life. He acknowledges that God is there in his living and breathing, his waking and sleeping, his resting and working, his thinking and speaking. He recognizes that God is with him in his hoping and dreaming, his watching and waiting, his laughing and weeping, and his hurting and healing. Hughes asks God to be his everything and acknowledges that Christ is already within him as the hope of glory.

The chorus repeats the desire for God to be Hughes's everything, and for Christ to be within him. The repetition emphasizes the importance of this message and makes it clear that Hughes is not just asking for God to be present in some areas of his life, but in every aspect of it. He recognizes that everything he is and everything he does should be centered on God.

Overall, the message of this song is one of complete surrender to God. Hughes recognizes that he cannot live his life to its fullest potential without God's presence in everything he does. By asking God to be his everything, he acknowledges his own limitations and the power and importance of God in his life.

This amazing song. Me and my daughter played it full blast minutes after we lost my husband and her father....Tim provided the words, we sang, hollered and prayed... Yay, Christ in me, the hope of glory as we rejoiced that our beloved one is with Jesus, and still...He is with us. Our everything.......Yay!
