Good memories are forever
Said the dog on the tombstone
If you're livin' underneath a bridge, man
All roads lead to home
I gotta hidden flask and I'm paid in cash
Gotta cross above my bed
I hitchhiked from Chicago
And a man walked up and said
This is a union town, a union town
All down the line
This is a union town, a union town
All down the line
And if you come to strip our rights away
We'll give you hell every time
This is a union town, a union town
All down the line
Today the policeman's a union man
Brother firefighter's my friend
And the kids locked in the Capitol
Are fighting 'til the end
And we're not gonna break tonight
And we're not gonna bend
Some say the union's down
But I asked around
And everybody said
This is a union town, a union town
All down the line
This is a union town, a union town
All down the line
And if they come to strip our rights away
We'll give 'em hell every time
This is a union town, a union town
All down the line
For every action, a reaction
Equal and opposite
That's why, my friend, the blood tastes good
Every time I'm hit
I gotta will to win and a Cheshire grin
Yeah, the Nightwatchman is near
And you can't get it where you're at
But you can sure get it here
So, come rain or sleet or dark of night
Come wind or frigid snow
There's 100,000 in the streets
And that number's gonna grow
And when we put the governor on trial
I'll be in the front row
Just take a look around
We're a union town
One, two, three, four - let's go!
This is a union town, a union town
All down the line
This is a union town, a union town
All down the line
And if they come to strip our rights away
We'll give 'em hell every time
This is a union town, a union town
All down the line
All down the line!

I saw Tom in a parade in Illinois this past summer. He had his wife and two kids with him. He is a great person. A great social activist!!! One of my favorite human beings.

He recently helped out the Warrior Met miners, who have been on strike for over a year and a half. He doesn't just sing about social and economic change. He works to make it happen. The world needs more people like Tom Morello.

he went home to Marseilles this summer to sing at the dedication of valley martyr and hero Big Bill Sutton's historical marker/plaza at the bridge where he was murdered by a company thugs shotgun. Tom was inspiring, fun, and real, no pretension. I'm 70, it is comforting to know people like him will carry on the struggle.

a big thank you to tom morello for coming to madison, protesting with us and spending the night at the capitol with us, and for this beautiful video! and for calling scott walker a jackass. :) the movement is happy to have your support - keep up all the good work you do!

Today, four days before the recall election,Tom Morello came to Madison (with Jackson Browne, Mike McColgan and other friends) to energize us (as though we needed energizing...) for the final get out the vote push. It was an evening I'll always remember. Thanks to the Nightwatchman for being with us in the snow and cold a year ago in February, and again today, on a beautiful Wisconsin spring day.

This is truly a folk song in the style of Woody Guthrie, supportive of mass street-protests and singing a song of the folks. We are the people of Wisconsin. The inclusion of many background singers for the chorus really completes the point. It's a terrific song in it's writing, and though it doesn't come with not the hard-hitting strums and beats of Maximum Firepower or The Road I Must Travel, it sure goes deep. Marched with him in Madison, what an amazing thing to witness thanks Tom!

Thank you to Tom for this song. It means a lot to me and my fellow Wisconsinites that he came here to Madison multiple times durring the last couple of years to sing and chant with us in the streets. The fact that Mr. Morello wrote this song about our protests, and attempt to remove our governor from office after taking collective bargaining rights away from public sector unions inspires me to keep the fight alive. Every time I want to skip out on going door to door, I listen to this.
