Lookin
Toronto Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I heard you were a fighter
I saw you in the street
Your friends were all around you
They follow you like sheep

A night of ? over
Upon a concrete throne
you're a two bit punk from nowhere
Afraid to stand alone

Looking for trouble, finding it easy
Looking for trouble for the rest of your life
Looking for trouble, ready to gamble
Looking for trouble, yeah

Another stripped down Chevy
Is sitting up on blocks
It only took a minute
And now the money talks, oh
Yeah, money talks

Looking for trouble, finding it easy
Looking for trouble for the rest of your life
Looking for trouble, ready to gamble
Looking for trouble, yeah

Your rat has got your number
The cops are on your case
Your life's in constant danger
You're head will win the race

I know that I can save you
You told me that you cared
Don't wanna see those handcuffs on you, no

Looking for trouble, finding it easy
Looking for trouble for the rest of your life
Looking for trouble, ready to gamble
Looking for trouble, yeah

Looking for trouble, finding it easy
Looking for trouble, finding it easy

Looking for trouble, finding it easy
Looking for trouble

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Toronto's song "Lookin for Trouble" paint a vivid picture of a troubled individual who is constantly seeking danger and excitement. The opening lines suggest that the person being addressed is known for being a fighter, and the singer has seen them in action on the street with a group of followers. The lyrics also suggest that this individual is not really tough, but rather is a "two bit punk from nowhere" who is afraid to go it alone.

The chorus offers a bleak assessment of this person's future, with the repeated phrase "Looking for trouble, finding it easy" serving as a kind of refrain. The song's narrator seems to be concerned about this person's well-being, as evidenced by the lines "I know that I can save you/You told me that you cared." However, there is a sense of inevitability to the person's fate, as they are "ready to gamble" and seem to be in "constant danger."

Overall, "Lookin for Trouble" is a cautionary tale about the dangers of seeking out conflict and excitement, and suggests that this behavior can lead to a life of danger and despair.

holy shit! to see that people still remember this song is so cool. Always thought of it as one of those "one-hit-wonder" bands of that time... great pop tune, but the band exploded.

I'd love to see some old video. I must've seen this band half a dozen times in 80-81, just before I discovered hardcore punk. That aside, this band was always great live. For some reason I was thinking of this song today and I'm remembering them opening for bands like Teaze, Streetheart, Ted Nugent. Anyway, great post. Cheers!!!!!
