1. Toronto was a Canadian rock band from the late seventies and early eighties who have been compared to Heart and Pat Benatar. They were formed in the late 1970s in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, when singer Annie "Holly" Woods met guitarist Brian Allen. The band's constantly shifting line-up was originally augmented by guitarist/backing vocalist Sharon Alton, keyboardist Scott Kreyer, bassist Nick Costello, and drummer Jimmy Fox.
Their first album, Lookin' for Trouble, was released in 1980, and the title track was a Top 40 hit in Canada. Head On (1981) followed , after which Costello and Fox left the band to be replaced by Gary LaLonde (later of Honeymoon Suite) and Barry Connors (later of Coney Hatch).
This sextet recorded Get It On Credit (1982), with Your Daddy Don't Know perhaps being their best known hit on the 1982 album. Lalonde was then replaced by Mike Gingrich for 1983's Girls' Night Out. This album also received attention, as did the band's Greatest Hits album of 1984.
There were subsequently several exits and entrances in 1984/85, with founding members Allen and Alton leaving, along with drummer Connors. They were replaced by Marty Walsh (guitars), Daryl Alvara (guitars) and Paul Hanna (drums), and the band rechristened themselves Toronto & Holly Woods. In 1985, the re-vamped sextet released their final album, Assault & Flattery. It featured the single New Romance, written by Holly Knight and Anton Fig.
2005 saw Toronto play at Voyageur Days Festival in Mattawa, Ontario, Canada (near North Bay) with other Canadian classic rockers Moxy, Chilliwack, Trooper, Goddo, Killer Dwarfs and Ray Lyell for the 30th anniversary of the release of the debut album by the band Moxy.

Why Can't We Talk?
Toronto Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
It ain't no use a playing games this time
Shake it loose, spit it out
We've got lots of time to talk it out
Why can't we talk, there's so much to say
Why can't we talk, we're worlds away
Why can't we talk face to face with nothing in the way
Come on, no one has to lose
No one wants to call you down
If you needed me I'll be around
Why can't we talk, there's so much to say
Why can't we talk, we're worlds away
Why can't we talk face to face with nothing in the way
Why can't we talk
Why can't we talk
Why can't we talk
Why can't we talk
Thought I've changed another world
We are standing where the heat will fall
Fear and danger say goodbye
These lyrics talk about the struggles of communication and the importance of resolving conflicts by talking things out. The song suggests that instead of playing games or holding back our thoughts and feelings, we should speak openly and honestly with each other. The repetition of the phrase "Why can't we talk?" emphasizes the frustration of not being able to communicate effectively. The lyrics also suggest that we may be separated by distance or other barriers, but we should make an effort to connect with each other and have a conversation face-to-face.
The song is very relevant to the current times when people often resort to social media or texting to communicate, but sometimes it's difficult to convey tone or meaning through text. By talking face-to-face, we have a better chance of truly understanding each other's thoughts and feelings. The song encourages us to prioritize communication and reach out to each other when needed, without fear of judgment or rejection.

French-Canadians have no reason to learn English if they live in Quebec.
French-Canadians are not catered to in places like B.C. and Alberta, a uni-lingual Francophone person has less of Canada to access than an Anglophone.
Anglophones have an entire country.
We only have one province.
French-Canadians bombed buildings and deleted English politicians in the 60s, they got trained by Palestinians in Jordan, teamed up with the Black Panthers and that's what gave us the power to run our own province and be taken seriously.
You think we're stuck up? We don't care.
Just don't pretend that you care about immigrants when Ottawa blocks 70% of French speaking Africans from coming into Quebec just because they do not speak English.
In a place where they would never need it in the first place.
Nah just bring in hundreds of thousands of south-east-Asian people, that's OK cause they speak English.
The English did not "give" us anything. We fought tooth and nail for it while we were illiterate and living in shanty towns.
The IRISH of all people were oppressive to French-Canadians in Quebec and Ontario, things like the Shiner's War happened where the Irish would r*pe and m*rder French-Canadian women in the streets and the cops looked the other way.
