00:00 the intro(duction): weird gun like noises and a bass
02:05 this is were things start changing: the bass gets a little faster and a synthesiser spices things up
02:35 the 1st verse: an explosion of drums bass
04:42 keyboard solo (slightly out of tune)
06:27 the bass quits: its only drums, keyboard and synth now
06:43 the drums get carmer
09:44 the 2nd change
10:04 the beeping slows down as it enters the 2nd verse
10:24 wait for it…
10:27 2nd verse: hmm… sounds a little bit like idfb intro
11:00 the bass returns in a beautiful riff
11:44 cool entry of marimba and vibes
13:53 is it just me or was this part meant to sound like the record got scratched?
14:50 the weird drum noises of the 3rd verse
15:10 3rd verse: interesting keyboard noises - sounds like something from the future
16:47 the marimba comes back
17:45 a cool keyboard riff
18:20 only the unique - and slightly unsatisfying - dams left
18:33 the 4th (and final) verse: electrical drums
18:46 slightly unsatisfying keyboard
20:57 the end bye bye

I remember going to a nice hotel on the Texas coast late 90's and we decided to hang out at the nice pool that day and just hit the beach in the evening, and brought our boombox and a shitload of beer down to the pool. There were at least a couple dozen strangers at the pool. We put this CD on first, fully expecting that within a few minutes people would object. But nobody did. We shared some beers, had a mini-party with strangers with this as the soundtrack, was a glorious moment for me and post-rock in general lol.

How could they refute
this ?

I yelled out the name of this song as a request for them to play this song as a chapel hill show at cat's cradle and they began their encore with a 12 to 15 minute version of this song. It was excellent. If you ever get the chance to see them live, modo fac

This band and this track in particular guided me to new worlds of music I hadn't yet discovered. In that sense, it's difficult to think of a single track that's been more important to me. Also, it kicks ass, and I still love it and Tortoise as they continue on with quality releases.

I have listened to this well over one hundred times, and I still really enjoy it. Dreamy and tranquil music. I like this as much as " Spiderwebbed" , a shorter song by Tortoise.

If you like this, definitely check out the band Can. They had a pretty big influence on Tortoise.

I remember when I first found about Can, and I got heavily into them. Then I started branching out and looking for similar bands. That’s how I found out about Tortoise.

RancidTacoGas

Can is probably the best band ever, right?
