No Sympathy
Tosh Peter Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I can't find no love
No sympathy
What kind of love
They've got for me

I'm on my way
To happiness
Where I can find
Some peace and rest

When I'm in troubles, yeah
Only me only, only me me feel the pain
No one good word of advice
From any of my so-called friends

I can't find no love
No sympathy
What kind, what kind of love
They've got for me

I'm on my way, yes
To happiness
Where I can find, where I can find
Some peace and rest

Might as well, might as well
I get out, I get out of hell
Hell could never be made for me
So I'm gonna search, search 'til I'm free

No love, no love
No sympathy
What kind, what kind of love
They've got for me

I'm on, I'm on, I'm on my way
To happiness
Where I can find, where I can find
Some peace and rest

I can't find no love
No, no sympathy
What kind, what kind, what kind of love
They got, they got, they got for me

On my way
To happiness
Where I can find, can find
Some peace and rest

I can't find no love
No sympathy
What kind, what kind
They've got for me

They don't love themselves
So they can't love no one else
They don't love themselves
So they can't love no one else

I just can't find, find, find no love
I can't find, fand, find no sympathy
I can't find, can't find, can't find no love at all
What kind of love, love, love
People got for me

I'm searchin'

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Tosh Peter's song "No Sympathy" express the artist's disappointment and frustration with the lack of support and empathy he receives from his friends and loved ones. The first verse describes his search for love and sympathy, but he cannot find any. He questions the kind of love the people around him have for him. In the second verse, he clarifies that he is on his way to happiness, where he hopes to find some peace and rest. However, despite his troubles, he feels alone in his pain, and no one offers him any good advice.

The next verse expresses his determination to escape his present situation and to find freedom from his troubles. He declares that hell cannot be his destiny, and he is willing to search for a way out until he is free. In the chorus, Tosh repeats his frustration with the lack of love and sympathy he is experiencing, and he searches for answers to the question, "What kind of love do people have for me?"

The final verse suggests that perhaps the reason for the lack of love and sympathy is that those around him do not love themselves. He repeats this line several times, suggesting that the absence of self-love is the root cause of the lack of love and support in his relationships.

Overall, Tosh Peter's "No Sympathy" is a powerful and personal reflection on the importance of love and empathy in our relationships with others. The song suggests that without love and sympathy, we cannot find peace and happiness in our lives.

After years and years listening to reaggae albums i have come to a conclusion that this album and Bob marley uprising are the best reggae albums ever of course there are so many contenders but this 2 albums are really spiritual

@fredvan6043

Well, everyone has his own favourites. I like both, but my personal top-4 would be: Upsetters-Superape / Singers&Players-War of Words / Singers&Players-Revenge of the Underdog / Bob Marley&Wailers-Live. As for Peter Tosh, if I had to pick one album it would be his second LP Equal Rights. But many contenders indeed! 🙂
