Totenburg are a German black metal band founded in 1998 (under the name "Pe… Read Full Bio ↴Totenburg are a German black metal band founded in 1998 (under the name "Peststurm") by Denis "Herr Rabensang" Schöner (drums), Emperor (guitars and vocals) and Ragnare (bass). Emperor left after recording two demo songs, "Schwarzer Geist" and "Swastika"; then Ragnare switched to guitars and vocals, while Sköll overtook bass duties. After this line-up change, they released a self-titled demo in 1998, after which they changed their name to "Totenburg". Then they released two more LP's: "Weltmacht oder Niedergang" in 1999 and "Winterschlacht" in 2002, without Sköll.

After these two releases, the whole line-up changed, with vocalist Jens "Asemit" Fröhlich (who's a member of Blood & Honour and leader of the "White Youth" movement), guitarists Eosperaz (from Die Saat), Hagal and bassist Deimos (from Tyskland) entering the band. With this line-up they released their 2004 masterpiece "Pestpogrom", along with two splits. They later recorded a short EP, "Art und Kampf" in 2005, in which a slight pagan metal influence can be heard. The following year they released a split with Austrian black metal band Menneskerhat (of which Herr Rabensang is a member), which saw their return to their old raw black metal style. Their full-length album, "Endzeit", was released in 2009.

Totenburg members are involved in several other projects, such as Epithalium, Absurd and Tyskland. Their line-up has undergone considerable changes throughout the years; notably, it has featured Kanwulf from Nargaroth and Occulta Mors from Moonblood and Nachtfalke (both for very short time and neither being featured in any release).

The word "Totenburg" refers to once planned buildings of great monuments called "Totenburgen" (castles/fortresses of the dead) in memory of fallen German soldiers in the West and in the East after the victory of Germany in World War II.

Prior to the Warren Court, the Court was conservative. She presents Reagan as if he was out of the ordinary. It decides when your starting point was. Basically, she is ignorant or dishonest.

Whenever I see Totenberg, I think of an interview she did on NPR, right before the 2016 Democratic convention. She was campaigning hard against Bernie Sanders, and in her discussion with an NPR host, after giving a long, tedious, error-laden and heavy-handed disparaging of Senator Sanders, she squealed, "No one in congress respects Bernie Sanders!" and then cackled with glee. Bizarre. That's when it was clear that the Emperor has no clothes. That comment was false, amateurish, and manipulative and revealed her motivations...it was a desperate attempt to damage Senator Sanders on the eve of the primary. Totenberg I guess is probably near 80 years old, yet does not seem to realize how transparent her attempts at manipulation are.

That’s an interesting take. This is my first time watching her. I want to know more. She’s engaging, smart, and easy to listen too. I’m surprised she went so hard against Bernie Sanders, but I also think that if he got elected no one in Washington would ever work with him. He pisses off all sides and I see the problem with that, even though I always wonder what America would look like if he ran it, but then again I live in Texas and I’m pretty sure we would definitely secede then. Hell, they have been trying to do that forever! But Bernie might just start that fire…anyway, thanks for a different view!

I have watched and enjoyed all of these interviews. Until this one. Considering the wealth of information and personal experience provided by the other interviews - what on Earth is gained by 75 minutes of a journalist interviewing a journalist? Pointless filler interview.

She has covered the Supreme Court more than any of justices. I think that was her selling point. Just bc they are both journalists doesn’t mean they have the same areas of expertise, experiences, or ideas. I haven’t watched the other interviews so I don’t see how this interview is a fuller, but hell, I might!

The problem with this doc is it plays both siderism. The Federalist Society is a small organization in each law school representing 1-3% of students. But it represents a near 100% of Republican judges. Republicans only pick from the most conservative of lawyers. On the flip side Democrats pick center right corporate lawyers. The 10% of truly liberal lawyers are not even in consideration. Where is the ACLU lawyer, or the Green Peace lawyer or The SPLC lawyer up for judgeship? Democrats did not start this fight, they fought back when it became clear that the Republicans had abandoned the idea of picking moderate judges, and would only pick from this tiny 1% of lawyers who are in the Federalist Society. The Dems pick from the other 99%. Which of these two process is radical?

Second, this docs fails to mention that the Republicans have had a majority of Judges since Reagan. But where the bar was set for considering conservative justice kept changing. Sandra Day O'Connor was a very conservative judge by any historical standard. The fact that she became a swing vote does not change that. It just shows how right the court moved with Republicans only picking people who were in their society of radicals. After she retired, Kennedy was the swing vote. Kennedy is on the record saying he uses the Federalist Society to find his clerks. Kennedy is more conservative than O'Connor, but than is the swing vote.

This idea that Democrats changed the game is nonsense. Democrats reacted to Republicans changing of the game in a radical way.

Why should Supreme Court judges be so indulged as to their ideology? An ideology refers to beliefs, ideas, systems of organized thoughts. It is similar to religious dogma. It is personal to the judge but not to be applied to legal decisions.

Do we want to encourage judges to implement their political or religious or economic beliefs rather than think about the subject they are ruling on?

What a sorry mess that makes of the law. The entire premise of appointing judges on the basis of their political or religious beliefs with the purpose of imposing those beliefs through their judgments is sick, unfair, corrupt, dangerous. We are contaminating our justice system when we call ideological purity a guarantee for employment.

Beards were condemned in the past decades. You obviously were too young to remember this. Beards and mustaches were like long hair - they were considered unamerican and counter-cultural. Men were considered "suspicious" if they had a beard. "Cleancut" meant short hair and no beard or mustache. It was very uncommon for men to not shave. Nina did not make this up.

I am so tired of hearing about people treating it as if it was a proven court case. Innocent until proven guilty, does anybody think that he assaulted her? Either something silly happened like they were being awful HS boys picking on the ugly girl and acted like they liked her, and made out with her at a party, then suddenly rejected her, then the other guy did same and they laughed at her. OR what is more likely, she was really attacked exactly as she said but it was not Kavanaugh, but her being drunk, and she is conflating the two. Memory is not reliable, especially over that long. I feel bad with what happened to her, but her story doesn't wash.
