The band has performed at many national festivals including Coachella, Stagecoach, Summerfest, Bumbershoot, and Pickathon. In 2011, they performed at several large folk festivals such as Telluride Bluegrass Festival, Newport Folk Festival and 2011 ROMP roots and branches. They are scheduled to play the Sasquatch Festival, Bonnaroo, All Good Music Festival, Newport Folk Festival, and Lollapalooza in 2012.
2014 saw the release of Trampled by Turtles's seventh studio album, Wild Animals, on July 15th. The band tapped Alan Sparhawk, from the band Low, to produce Wild Animals. Sparhawk's influence is evident in the band's seemingly more alternative, high lonesome sound. The night of Wild Animals' release, TBT made their second appearance on the Late Show with David Letterman. On August 16th, Trampled by Turtles headlined a sold out show at Red Rocks Amphitheater in Morrison, CO.

Burn for Free
Trampled By Turtles Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
As I stepped into this town
But its all over now
Lord it's past and gone
But it's calming to see
All the houses burn for free
Little darling of mine
Well you're my home you're my girl
All the years in all the world
Get handed down from up high
Upon the mountain
But it's calming to see
All the cities burn for free
Little darling of mine
Won't you please come home
Well tell me now get away
Every hour of every day
It's these lonely times
That pass the worst
But it's calming to see
All the flags gonna burn for free
Little darling of mine
Won't you please come home
The Trampled by Turtles song Burn for Free tells the story of a person who arrives in town and finds that their world has come crashing down. The lyrics describe the crumbling walls around them and the implication that everything around them has changed. However, the singer finds some solace in the fact that all the houses and cities around them are burning for free. The song's chorus repeatedly pleads for a loved one to come home.
The lyrics have a very poetic, metaphorical quality to them. The burning houses and cities represent the chaos and destruction that seems to be surrounding the singer's life, while their plea for a loved one to come home represents an attempt to find stability and peace in the midst of the turmoil. The verses also imply a feeling of loneliness and a sense of being lost or confused, but the chorus suggests that the singer feels that having someone they love by their side would bring them some comfort.
Overall, Burn for Free is a powerful and evocative song about loss, chaos, and the search for peace and stability amidst the storm.
