The band has performed at many national festivals including Coachella, Stagecoach, Summerfest, Bumbershoot, and Pickathon. In 2011, they performed at several large folk festivals such as Telluride Bluegrass Festival, Newport Folk Festival and 2011 ROMP roots and branches. They are scheduled to play the Sasquatch Festival, Bonnaroo, All Good Music Festival, Newport Folk Festival, and Lollapalooza in 2012.
2014 saw the release of Trampled by Turtles's seventh studio album, Wild Animals, on July 15th. The band tapped Alan Sparhawk, from the band Low, to produce Wild Animals. Sparhawk's influence is evident in the band's seemingly more alternative, high lonesome sound. The night of Wild Animals' release, TBT made their second appearance on the Late Show with David Letterman. On August 16th, Trampled by Turtles headlined a sold out show at Red Rocks Amphitheater in Morrison, CO.

Annie ? take me back to my home
Annie take me back to my home, my home
Ain't gonna roam no more
Well Captain I don't want to kill another man
He ain't done nothing to me
He ain't done nothing to me, to me
Well son just do your duty for your countrymen
don't ask no questions of me
Don't ask no questions of me, of me
Ain't gonna roam no more
When I come back, Lord, when I come back again
Annie take me back to my home
Annie take me back to my home, my home
Ain't gonna roam no more
There's a man behind a desk, a thousand miles away
Gonna put me down in my grave
Gonna put me down in my grave, my grave
Ain't gonna roam no more
When I come back, Lord, when I come back again
Annie take me back to my home
Annie take me back to my home, my home
Ain't gonna roam no more
When I come back, Lord, when I come back again
Annie take me back to my home
Annie take me back to my home, my home
Ain't gonna roam no more
"When I Come Back Again" by Trampled by Turtles is a powerful song about the struggles of war and the desire for home. The song begins and ends with the repeated plea for Annie to take the singer back home. This home is a symbol of safety, comfort, and familiarity, and it is something the singer longs for with a deep ache.
The middle of the song contrasts this longing with the horrors of war. The second verse has the singer voicing a desire not to kill, even if the person being killed has "done nothing to me." The father figure in the third verse tells the singer to do his duty for his country and not to question his orders. This juxtaposition of the personal desire for a peaceful home and the often impersonal, violent duties of a soldier creates a tension that emphasizes the difficulty of war.
The final verse brings the personal and the impersonal together, as the singer talks about a man behind a desk who is going to "put me down in my grave." The repeated plea to Annie to take the singer back home becomes even more poignant in the face of this threat. The song ends with a repetition of the chorus, emphasizing the singer's desire for home and the contrast between that desire and the inevitability of war.
Overall, "When I Come Back Again" is a powerful commentary on the pain of war and the importance of home as a source of comfort and hope.
