Sycamore Feeling
Trentemøller Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Is your heart in need
Wanna see spring
Unfold your believes
is it coming on?
Fading the dark I'll let it fade
your ghost to the sun
Feel it dying
till my eyes go blind

All the dead end
Fainted pictures
Bended lies my
Lovers cross I'll
Save it for my man
Put your trust in me
Wanna live free
Unfold my believes
Corral skies are coming on
Hazy Jane

All the dead ends
Fainted pictures
Bended lies my
Lovers cross I'll
Save it for you Is your heart in need
Wanna be spring
Unfold your believes Is it coming on?
Fading the dark
Let it in on a morning train
Called your name
Sycamore Feeling
All the different
Voices of your name
All the lies and All the different
Voices of your name
All the lies and

Slow the drug of mine
Would they holler...?

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Trentemøller's "Sycamore Feeling" is a melancholic call to let go of the past and embrace new beginnings. The song starts with a question, "is your heart in need?" suggesting that the listener may be holding on to something that is hindering their growth. The next line, "wanna see spring," is a metaphor for new beginnings and growth. The song then emphasizes the importance of letting go by saying "unfold your beliefs" and "fading the dark, I'll let it fade, your ghost to the sun." The last line of the verse, "feel it dying till my eyes go blind," suggests that the singer is willing to let go completely, no matter how painful it may be.

The chorus repeats the same imagery of dead ends, faded pictures, and bent lies. The line "save it for my man, put your trust in me," is ambiguous but suggests that the singer is willing to be a source of support for the listener. The second verse switches "save it for my man" to "save it for you," which may indicate a shift in who the singer is addressing directly. The verse then reiterates the importance of new beginnings and letting go of the past. The chorus repeats, and the song ends with the lyrics "all the different voices of your name, all the lies and slow the drug of mine, would they holler?" which suggest the singer may be struggling to let go or move on.

Overall, "Sycamore Feeling" is a beautifully written song that explores the complexities of letting go and starting anew. The lyrics are open to interpretation, and the metaphorical language adds depth to the emotional themes of the song.

Trentemøller's music envokes something deep, dark and warm. This trend is carried through the majority of his tracks and I love it. To me, he is one of the frontiers with respect to bringing this type of feeling to electronica music. Can't wait to see this guy in Atlanta, GA.
